Spend creative time producing and personalising your own Travellers Bag in natural British hide. Supervised by Catherine, this workshop is a great way to introduce yourself to working with leather and will teach you important basic skills, original ideas and creativity are encouraged as you are individually tutored. Try a range of techniques under expert guidance including pattern cutting, stitching, punching, edge finishing, riveting, dyeing and mark making, working with vintage and antique tools, materials all provided. Task Breakdown; Cut pattern templates. Select Leather, cut straps, billet and panel pieces. Punch ends and buckle slots, bevel and dye edges. Skive buckle end turnover, loops and strap end. Fit buckle and punch stitch and rivet holes. Rivet and stitch to panel side pieces. Glue strap loops, and stitch, mark stitch lines and punch stitch holes on panel pieces, stitch up the satchel. Mark up lines for pippin holes on billet, punch pippins, screw-in stud, and initial if required. Wax finish and assemble. Punch initials or name on the label. create a unique gift to take away. Catherine Edwards trained as a boot and shoemaker. working for many years before a residency at the royal armouries, which led to the production of her first collection of unique leather goods.
