We are very happy to welcome stained glass artist Karl Percival here to teach at Creative with Nature. Karl has been a professional stained glass artist for over 30 years and his unique skill set has led to him to work on a number of nationally important pieces over the years. This 2-day course is designed to give you a taster of all the basic skills and techniques you need to make your own leaded stained glass piece.
In this course you will be learning the “Leaded Stained Glass” technique.
Stained glass has been used for thousands of years, beginning with the ancient Romans and Egyptians, who produced small objects made from coloured glass. Stained glass windows in Britain can be traced back to the 7th century where they were widely used in churches to enhance their beauty and inform the viewer through narrative or symbolism. Today it is used in many different contexts from large public works to peoples homes.
Over the 2 days we will cover;
• Stained Glass Design principles and designing your own template, choosing glass and colours
• Scoring and breaking glass in straight lines and curves
• Cutting glass to templates, sanding and grinding glass
• Copper foiling – wrapping, crimping and burnishing
• Soldering – Tacking, Tinning and Beading
• Patina, Polishing and Framing
At the end of the course you will take home your uniquely designed piece of stained glass art.

That's great paul. thanks for taking the time to leave a review and glad you enjoyed the weekend. Joe. xxA totally new craft for me and I loved it! Laura is an excellent teacher. I was quite nervous working with glass, but Laura was really patient and after a while of practicing with cheap clear glass I felt much more confident working on my final piece. A most enjoyable weekend, I was really impressed with my results.
