Stained Glass Beginners Course
This is a relaxed, fun 2 day course designed to teach you all the basic skills and techniques to make your very own stained glass piece of art.
In this course you will be learning the “Copper Foil Technique”, widely attributed to the workshops of LC Tiffany. This was developed around 1880 to accommodate tiny pieces of glass and the curves of Art Nouveau shades like those designed by Tiffany.
Over the 2 days we will cover;
Stained Glass Design principles and designing your own template
Choosing glass and colours
Scoring and breaking glass in straight lines and curves
Cutting glass to templates, sanding and grinding glass
Copper foiling – wrapping, crimping and burnishing
Soldering – Tacking, Tinning and Beading
Finishing and Polishing
At the end of the course you will take home your very own piece of stained glass art for you and others to admire!
There will be a lunch break for you to explore our market town. Please bring an apron.
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 4 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
All materials and use of tools.
At the moment we are asking you to bring your own drinks and lunch/snacks - there are local shops and cafes if you wish to visit them.

I’m a big fan of Victorian stained glass and I’ve always wanted to learn how it’s created. This course, run by Laura Barnes at Joe Gregory’s willow workshop, showed us how to create a small piece, step by step and take the piece home. I loved it.
Response from Creative with Nature:thanks so much for the the review and glad you enjoyed the day. joe. xx
An informative, hands on course, brilliantly led by Laura. Learned plenty of skills cutting glass, using lead and soldering. Was great to come home with two stained glass pieces to remind us of a great weekend!

Really informative and fun time with teacher Laura at todmorden. Never thought I could learn and master so much in just a weekend. It has instilled a need in me to continue and master the process even more now , with more adventurous projects .
Met some lovely likeminded people on the course as well . Recommended!
Response from Creative with Nature:That's great paul. thanks for taking the time to leave a review and glad you enjoyed the weekend. Joe. xx
A totally new craft for me and I loved it! Laura is an excellent teacher. I was quite nervous working with glass, but Laura was really patient and after a while of practicing with cheap clear glass I felt much more confident working on my final piece. A most enjoyable weekend, I was really impressed with my results.
Response from Creative with Nature:thanks for the feedback. xx
