Stained Glass Two Day Workshop in the Lake District

X

Description

In the relaxed atmosphere of Hare Hill Barn, this practical two-day beginner's course is a great introduction to the wonderful craft of stained glass.  Guided by Nikki Clark, stained glass artist, you will learn the necessary steps and techniques involved in making a small stained glass panel (approx. 21cm x 21cm) including choosing and cutting glass, leading up, soldering and finishing your panel ready to be hung in your home.  No previous artistic experience is required as Nikki will provide a choice of designs as well as all essential tools and equipment.

Your tutor, Nikki, has her own studio at her home in Gilcrux, West Cumbria and has over 20 years' experience in designing and making stained glass.  She also enjoys glass fusing and foiling, often incorporating these elements into her work, exploring texture, colour and light, and, apart from her own work, has completed several restoration projects for clients

Accreditation:  HND Architectural Stained Glass, West Glamorgan Institute of Higher Education, Swansea (now the University of Wales Trinity St David).

There will be an additional £30 materials cost payable directly to Nikki at the start of the course.

Please note we are unable to offer this course to pregnant women and nursing mothers.

This is a small class limited to 4 people.

This Workshop will be running again on 6th October.

Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 4 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.

What's included in the price?

All essential tools and equipment are provided but there will be an additional £30 materials cost payable directly to Nikki at the start of the course. This covers the cost of glass, lead and a protective mask etc.

Please bring glasses if you use them for close work and wear old clothes, and bring an apron and sturdy boots to work in (walking boots or steel-toed safety boots – NO OPEN TOED SANDALS OR SOFT SHOES).

Refreshments are provided throughout each day including home-baked cakes, and a two-course lunch.

We do not offer accommodation but being in the Lake District there is a wide range offered within a few miles to suit all budgets, and there are a couple of B&Bs within a couple of miles of Hare Hill Barn.

We continue to take precautions regarding Covid19. Hare Hill Barn has plenty of space to remain socially distanced, and we ask that you respect instructions regarding safeguarding.

Enjoyed our stained glass days very much. The location for the course is stunning, facilities and materials excellent. Nicky was extremely patient and encouraging. We were challenged in our work and I feel I learnt a great deal as an absolute beginner. I recommend this course to anyone who would like to try something different! Loved working with glass and colours.

Response from Hare Hill Barn:

Thank you Lesley. Great to meet you both and well done for your beautiful panels! They looked stunning.
