Saturday Mosaic Making - St Albans - Hertfordshire

Come book on to one of my relaxed and rewarding workshops where you will begin to learn the ancient technique of mosaic art. While with me you will design and create an original piece of art that will be loved for many years. You'll learn how to cut and place your tiles and will be shown and given guidance on how to grout your piece for completion at home. My courses are suitable for complete beginners as well as those who have explored the medium of mosaic before. At each session you will have the opportunity to choose from a selection of substrates (bases) using a variety of glass and ceramic tiles, as well as a selection of interesting bits, including beads, millefiori and stone, there are so many colours and sparkle to choose you'll be spoilt for choice! At each session there is always a great mix of people attending, some coming for the first time having never tried mosaic before as well as people who have been mosaicing for some time and enjoy the workshop environment to continue to develop and enhance their skills. So whatever level you're at the sessions will provide you with a creative space to relax, unwind and make some art! During each class there is a selection of bases to work on plus a variety of mdf cut shapes. Standard board sizes are: Square 20cm x 20cm Rectangle 30cm x 20cm Circle 25cm If there is a specific size that you need please do get in touch with me. You'll be amazed how quickly the time flies by! If you don't manage to complete your design you will be given all necessary tiles to take home with you. There is also a selection of grout colours to buy should you wish to, which cost £3 per bag. Some tips: Come with an idea of what you would like to mosaic and what design you would like to create so you have optimum time for mosaicing. I will provide templates and offer assistance with drawing out your design, should you need support. Often, simple designs are the most effective, especially when you're new to mosaic work. It's always great to be able to complete on the day and have that sense of accomplishment!
