Glass Suncatcher Copper Foiling Workshop

Fun and relaxed half-day workshops making beautiful stained glass ‘suncatchers’, using the basics of the Tiffany Copper Foil Technique. These courses are suitable for beginners. On these half-day workshops, you have the opportunity to make a range of designs. You will be guided through the process starting with learning to cut glass, using the copper foil, soldering and constructing these attractive sun catchers, ready to take home on the day. There is enough time to make two items during the workshop. This course is limited to just six participants. Your tutor for the day is Jo Turner who has many years of experience making and teaching. (Jo also offers a beginners’ two-day stained-glass course available at various weekends during the year at Stanwick Lakes.) Dates and designs (please see photographs): Friday 15th March - Spring flowers Friday 19th April - Butterflies and bees Saturday 15th June - Birds and feathers Sunday 16th June - Butterflies and Bees Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th November - Christmas decorations *Please note that solder contains lead, therefore, this course is not recommended for those who are pregnant or breastfeeding.* Please wear covered shoes. These courses take place in our Traditional Barn at Stanwick Lakes, a beautiful 750-acre nature reserve and visitor attraction in the heart of Northamptonshire’s Nene Valley.

What's included in the price?

Tools, materials and safety equipment are provided. Basic tea/coffee and biscuits are provided free of charge during the course. Car parking is also free of charge on the day of your course. Food and drinks can be purchased in the café in the Visitor Centre, or you can bring your own packed lunch.

Stanwick Lakes is a unique 750 acre nature reserve and countryside attraction located in the heart of Northamptonshire’s Nene Valley.

We have extensive play areas, open spaces and paths that families, walkers, cyclists and nature lovers can explore at leisure. We also have specially considered areas dedicated to nature and its wildlife, as well as the history of the site.

Parking is free for workshop attendees - please give your registration plate details to our reception staff in the Visitor Centre on the day.

Alternatively, you can become a member for just £42.00 per year, giving you free access to all our facilities for a whole year, while supporting Rockingham Forest Trust.
