Nigel the bodger reviewed: Introduction to leaded stained glass

"Gen was the perfect hostess and gave excellent well paced direction for what can be a tricky craft. She demonstrated all the techniques needed to give first timers like me the confidence to have a go at home. Despite my sometimes frustrating habit of not doing as instructed, she patiently nudged me back to the righteous ways of the glass wizard ! A lovely lunch was provided and refreshments a plenty highly recommended."

Wicked Gen Crafts responded:

"Thank you for your lovely review. I had a great day with you and was so pleased you worked through all the processes to make your own individual piece that you should be proud of."

Mathilde reviewed: Spoon Carving with Touchwood Glasgow

"Robert's workshop was absolutely brilliant. The day passed so quickly. We started from scratch and axed a log of wood ourselves to carve our future spoons. We learned to used all the tools, which I loved. Robert found the right balance between teaching/giving advice and giving us space to solve problems, while always being available to help and step in when needed. He is also very passionate and knowledgeable about carving so I felt like I learn a lot. I enjoyed it so much I would actually do it again! And we all left with beautiful spoons and spatulas. I highly recommend it."

Jaki Taylor reviewed: Light & Dark impacting in watercolour at my farm studio TV artist Marilyn Allis

"Not only is Marilyn an excellent artist, she is a superb teacher. I go to as many of her workshops as I can and also signed up for her 'Lockdown' zoom lessons, which were great fun! For this workshop on 'Light and Dark', she made it easy to understand the importance of tone in a painting and I very much enjoyed using what I had learned to paint my own Naples street scene. Great fun and I can't wait for the next one!"

Tony D reviewed: Learn to turn in Snowdonia, North Wales - Full day

"Having never used a lathe before I was a little nervous about stepping up to such an advanced machine for the first time, but Les is such a wonderful teacher that those nerves were quickly replaced by excitement as he adeptly and patiently explained how it all works. I'm absolutely thrilled with the objects I was able to make under his tutelage and definitely have the 'bug' now - I can't wait to delve into this more. The day was extremely enjoyable, with Les willing to expand beyond the scope of the class to discuss all sorts of things to do with wood identification and finishes for various types of project, and his passion and knowledge for the craft is evident. If you have even a passing interest in turning for the first time I cannot recommend this class highly enough - I had a fantastic day in his lovely workshop and I hope I can come back in the future to try making something else. Would give it six stars if I could!"

Pren responded:

"Thank you so much, Tony. You did remarkably well and I thoroughly enjoyed working with you."

"What an amazing course! My wife and I booked this course as it's something we both wanted to try. What can I say, Lynette is an amazing teacher and this course exceeded all our expectations. We were thoroughly guided through the whole process in extreme detail, and Lynette was very patient and more than happy to answer any questions we had throughout. We ended up with some amazing pieces to take home. Much recommended to anyone looking for a good shared experience!"

Ian McCabe reviewed: Make a silver ring or bangle

"I was booked on a one day silversmithing course at Lucy’s which I received as a Christmas gift. The course was originally to make stacking rings, however, when I arrived we discussed the possibility of making one abstract design ring instead. As I have a background in metalwork (not jewellery!) Lucy thought that this would be achievable for me. We spent the first part of the day designing, planning and discussing techniques and preferences. Lucy was incredibly helpful and patient with me, and, with her expert knowledge she guided me though making a template, trying out embossing on copper and eventually cutting and making the ring in silver. The whole experience was an absolute pleasure and I learned a lot in a short time. Lucy is a lovely lady and although I didn’t quite have time to finish the ring on the day, she supported me with advice over the phone and via email to help me to finish the project at home. She was unstinting in passing on her knowledge and I would love to return for another course."

"Sebastian is a great course leader. I learnt so much about stone carving during the two day course under his direction and support. Using a range of hand tools supplied, I was able to turn a block of stone into a really great garden sculpture. I was so pleased. Despite having no previous experience of carving, I now feel able to do more stone carving at home. Many thanks Sebastian"

Bernie Penny reviewed: Two day painting workshop in West Pembrokeshire with Kate Freeman

"I booked this two day course with Kate as a present for my wife, and these words are from what my wife has related to me and the brief moments spent talking with Kate, who was never backward when making tea or coffee after chauffeuring my wife to the studio. She has a vast range of techniques and styles and oodles of enthusiasm. She is so nice as well, she instantly puts you at ease. Her studio is quite large and airy, seeing as it was February, nice and warm too. After two days in the company of Kate, sharing ideas and absorbing so much knowledge and know-how, my wife was buzzing. I am certain she will return. Well done and thank you Kate."

Coach House Studio responded:

"Thank you Bernie - It was lovely meeting you! I'm very happy that Anne gained so much from her time here at the Coach House. Anne produced an extraordinary amount of work over two days, and I look forward to seeing how her paintings develop in the coming weeks. Call in any time."
