Daniela McDonach reviewed: Quilt in a Day, one-to-one course with Amanda Jane Ogden

"Amanda Jane’s Quilt in a Day course was everything I had hoped for and more. I am completely new to quilting, though I know my way round a sewing machine. Amanda Jane was patient and her step-by-step explanations were really clear - she made sure I learned by doing as well as by listening. Amanda had asked for my colour preferences before the course, and she got them spot-on correct, so the quilt I made was exactly to my taste. I have come out not just with a lovely lap quilt, but with the skills to continue quilting independently. Amanda also made sure I went away with a clear idea of what equipment is necessary for quilting (there are so many accessories out there, but I now have a clear idea of what I actually need), and also showed me all the different types of wadding available and the pros and cons of each. After the day, she sent me an email with all the information I needed and lots of good links and resources. I came away with confidence and enthusiasm to keep quilting! Thank you so much Amanda Jane! "

Amanda Jane Textiles responded:

"Thank you Daniela for your review. It was a pleasure to meet you and your finished quilt is excellent!"

Martin, Dawn and Steph Clarke reviewed: 4h mosaic workshop for beginners

"We had a great afternoon with Marie-Paule and would highly recommend it. I, my wife and my daughter did it, we are enthusiastic but not natural artists but she was patient and encouraging in helping us pick a design or firm up an idea. It was only us 3 on the course this afternoon so she was on hand for prompts, observations and positive input. We each came out with something distinctly different that made the most of our individual talents and passions. As a measure of how it went I was so engrossed at one point that we had spent an hour and a half building the scenes and I hadn't noticed the time flying by."

mppmosaic responded:

"Martin, Dawn and Steph, thank you very much for your review. You were great fun to work with, and i thoroughly enjoyed teaching you. Happy birthday again! I wish you the very best with your future mosaic and artistic pursuits. Marie-Paule"

Joan johns reviewed: Needle Felt a Blue Tit (with video instructions)

"The video instructions were faultless; very explicit and the wool worked exactly as Gwen the instructor was telling us and couldn’t be improved. The package of wool was very generous and I was able to make, as she said, four more. I would emphasise, as Gwen did, in taking your time when doing this work. Although this was my first needlefelt, I have worked with textiles; sewing machines; needles etc. So anyone who’s never picked up a needle before will be able to do this if they listen carefully about ‘use of the barbed needle’. Thoroughly enjoyed doing the work and will certainly be buying from Gwen again. "

Jayne Sutherland reviewed: Make a silver ring or bangle

"This is a great introductory course for anyone wanting to explore working with enamel. As Lucy said using enamels is a bit like baking and it's possible to produce finished pieces relatively quickly. By the end of the day, I had several sets of earrings and pendants to take home. Lucy will show you how to choose and combine enamel colours and how to apply these to your pieces (I used a mixture of copper and silver blanks) All the pieces are fired on the day and ready to take away. A very enjoyable and rewarding day."

Pris M reviewed: Plaster mould making for slip cast ceramics with Ed Bentley

"I booked a 10 day course with Ed as I wanted to refine my mould making techniques. I gained invaluable knowledge and skills to help me with my journey in a professional and personal capacity. During my time, we critiqued drawings and discussed ideas, refining them into elegant forms. These discussions were extremely beneficial as I was able to resolve design issues with someone who has worked in industry. Ed is an incredible being. He is passionate, knowledgeable and talented. Everyday day was met with a smile and a positive attitude. Graceful and delicate in his approach to working, Ed’s manner put me at ease and filled the studio with a relaxing vibe. The workshop is amazing, the setup is smart, full of creativity and has a lovely atmosphere where you can immerse yourself in the creative process. Overall, it has been an unforgettable and invaluable experience. I would 100% recommend Ed for tuition!"
