About the Course
I am offering one day courses in my workshop, which is situated in one of the few remaining, working mews in Hove. Lots of character!
I have been making mirrors and working with glass since 1991 and thought it would be fun to offer one to one tuition to anyone who likes the idea of learning the basics of copperfoiling stained glass. You will learn the techniques needed to make a small mirror, or stained glass panel, or a suncatcher to hang in your window.
Copperfoiling entails cutting pieces of glass to the desired size and shape and then, if necessary, grinding them. They are then foiled and soldered together.
In order to satisfactorily finish your design in the time allowed, a maximum of ten pieces of glass is recommended per design. And as this is a one on one course I will be guiding you at all times to ensure you are happy with everything you are doing
Your course will start at 10am and finish at 4.30pm with a half hour lunch break. If we need to stay on a bit longer in order for you to finish your design, then that’s fine. We can also tweak start times to suit you.
Please be advised that these courses involve soldering and so are not suitable for pregnant women.
I like being able to give my attention to one person rather than doing groups of people, but if you wanted to come along with a friend and learn together, then do just let me know.
There is no parking available on site but the workshop is 2 minutes from Church Road and constant buses. Also available close by are parking meters if you wish to drive here.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above or telephone us. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
What's included in the price?
Included in the price are all materials and tea/coffee/biscuits.
You can either bring a packed lunch or grab something at one of the many shops/cafes in the immediate area. And there will be tea, coffee and biscuits available at all times.
I have just come back from a wonderful day with Emma. I learnt so much in a few hours and have come home with a lovely piece of glass work. Emma is really good at teaching you what to do but making you do it yourself so the piece is very much yours. I thoroughly recommend giving this course a go

I really enjoyed learning the techniques of copperfoiling stained glass with Emma. She is a welcoming, patient and experienced instructor. It was a really lovely day ~ I'm coming back and bringing my daughter next time!

A really enjoyable and relaxing day. Emma was patient and a skilled teacher. She made everything very achievable and we left, proud owners of our own stained glass mirrors!
I cannot recommend this highly enough. We learnt, we created, we laughed... What more could we ask for. Thank you Emma!
