Stained glass one day course: for two people

X

Description

I am offering one day stained glass making courses in my workshop, which is situated in one of the few remaining, working mews in Hove. Lots of character!

I have been making mirrors and working with glass since 1991 and thought it would be fun to offer tuition to anyone who likes the idea of learning the basics of the Tiffany copper foil technique. You will learn the skills needed to make a small mirror, or stained glass panel, or a sun-catcher to hang in your window.

Copper foiling entails cutting pieces of glass to the desired size and shape and then, if necessary, grinding them. They are then foiled and soldered together.

In order to satisfactorily finish your design in the time allowed, a maximum of ten pieces of glass is recommended per design and your finished piece, if a mirror or a panel, will be approx 12" x 6". If you have a specific project in mind I am happy to discuss this with you. Depending on the size this could mean an adjustment to the course price.

I will be guiding you at all times to ensure you are happy with everything you are doing.

Your course will start at 10am and finish at 4.30pm with a half hour lunch break. If we need to stay on a bit longer in order for you to finish your design, then that’s fine. We can also tweak start times to suit you.

Please be advised that these courses involve soldering and so are not suitable for pregnant women.

I like being able to give my attention to one person rather than doing groups of people, but if you wanted to come along with a friend and learn together, then do just let me know. I would have to charge a bit extra for materials though.

There is no parking available on site but the workshop is 2 minutes from Church Road and constant buses. Also available close by are parking meters if you wish to drive here.

Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.

What's included in the price?

Included in the price are all materials and tea/coffee/biscuits.
You can either bring a packed lunch or grab something at one of the many shops/cafes in the immediate area. And there will be tea, coffee and biscuits available at all times.
