Robert Chan (Northampton) reviewed: Kitchen Knife Course

"I attended the course yesterday and came away not only with a beautifully hand-crafted K-tipped kitchen knife, but also a permanent grin on my face. Dave is a very methodical and meticulous tutor with plenty of experience and more importantly, patience. I have never done metalwork before but Dave was always there guiding me through each step of the way through shaping of the blade, forging and immersing it in oil to cool, shaping & sanding the handle and finally hand-polishing the blade. He even allowed me to make this into a single-beveled Kiritsuke knife. I have no hesitation in recommending this course to anyone who is looking for a rewarding experience. Many thanks, Dave! "

Hand forged Yorkshire responded:

"Many thanks indeed for leaving such a lovely review Robert, made my day reading it and is greatly appreciated. So glad you enjoyed the day and you are happy with your knife. You did a fantastic job and created a lovely knife with really clean lines, very well done Kindest regards Dave"

Laura pinkney reviewed: Blow a bauble at Chew Valley handmade glass

"I bought this experience as a 40th birthday gift for my friend and it was amazing! We both enjoyed it so much that we are both booking this for our families. Our teacher was so patient with us both. He explained the process first and then talked us through each stage as we went. Blowing glass is something neither of us have done before but we found it so relaxing and we both want to come back and do it again next year. "

Chew Valley HandMade Glass responded:

Jackie D reviewed: Hand spinning course - absolute beginners

"Hollie is a brilliant tutor! I learned so much in this workshop, from advice about what type of fleece to start spinning with, right the way through to skeining the yarn I had spun that day. Hollie was wonderfully patient, explained things clearly and happily answered all my many (many!) questions. She was excellent company throughout the day, I had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. I would definitely advise anyone wanting to learn to spin to join Hollie for one of her workshops, they are well worth it."

Thelma reviewed: Furniture upcycling workshop - 1 day

"19th November what a fabulous day I had. Hannah is a great teacher and has plenty of good advice and tips on how to recycle your old furniture to look good (even my little chair) and is very patient. I have never painted or waxed furniture before (except paint walls) thoroughly enjoyed myself. The day day went so quick, chatting to other people what a lovely group that I was with. Learnt a lot about paint even sand paper, techniques how to paint successfully and no dragging of paint brush marks and the using of frog tape (great!!) I recommend everyone to have a go, when I retire next year I will give it another go. Loved next door Simion, amazing chap that does the upholstering "

Tread Softly responded:

"Aww thanks for leaving such a lovely review Thelma. It was lovely working with you and getting to meet you. I loved your two tone chair - it looked great! Hopefully you can use your new found skills and go made upcycling next year!! Thanks again for coming :) x"

Simon Grove reviewed: Silver jewellery making class for beginners

"My wife booked this course as a 13th birthday present for our daughter, we had no idea what to expect but what a revelation it was. Jonathan has the patience of a saint and his explanations of techniques, tools to use and materials is thorough but easy to follow as novices to jewellery making. After practising on several copper pieces, we were let loose on the silver, our daughter had a design for a ring she wanted, drew the idea down and although some elements were small and fiddly, Jonathan helped her to get it marked out, cut and solder the different elements of the ring she'd designed and it turned out just as she wanted it............AMAZING !!!! Really can't recommend Salt Way Silver highly enough, we plan to return ourselves at some point. Thank you Jonathan for a wonderful experience :)"

Salt Way Silver responded:

"Thank you Simon. My main aim is for you to have a good day out - and also to learn how to make your own Silver Jewellery as a bonus! You all did really well and your daughter's design worked a treat. Well done to all of you and thank you for choosing Salt Way Silver. Jonathan"

Andrea McGuire reviewed: Pottery wheel & glass fusing private half-day

"I had a fabulous time doing the combined glass and pottery half day workshop with a friend. I loved getting a taster of both crafts yet still having enough time to produce some pieces (3 x glass pieces and 3 x pots). Both Sarah and Chris were extremely supportive and encouraging and made the afternoon a lot of fun. I would recommend this course for anyone looking who is not sure of their creative ability but wants to have a go ... you will be surprised with what you are able to create."

Sarah Greening Glass responded:

"Thank you so much - it was great to meet you both for a fun afternoon! "
