Booked a 1 to 1 candle making course with Anita, which she kindly re- scheduled because of the bad weather.
I can only say having been on a few different courses for various things, Anita's style of teaching was the most relaxed and enjoyable.
For anyone considering taking up candle making, I think you would struggle to find a better tutor.
The location of the Workshop is just the icing on the cake.
Anita, once again thank you for the way you encouraged creativity, after having gone through all the basics.

I attended a 3hr workshop today with Anita and one other attendee. Having had an urge to try candle making for a while, I was thrilled to discover this facility almost on my doorstep. I was not disappointed. During a very relaxed 3 hour session we were able to make our own 'rose' candles, a pillar candle, container candle and wax melts, choosing our own colours and fragrances, with the excellent tuition and guidance of Anita. I will return to try her other workshops throughout the year. I would definitely recommend these workshops as well as a visit to see her own produce which are very different and well made.

My mother bought me a Candle Alchemist candle-making workshop gift voucher for Christmas and I went with no knowledge or expectations. This activity is a great addition to Anglesey’s many creative attractions and so close to beautiful Newborough beach and Llandwyn Island.
My adult session (a morning) was taught by Anita and was well structured, with time to chat to my fellow attendee over coffee. My workshop was an introduction to 3 different ways of making heated wax candles, and over 3 hours I made a pillar candle to my own choice of colour and fragrance, a scented jar candle, some scented wax melts and two free-standing flower 🌹 candles.
Anita offers pottery painting and cold-modelling-wax candle moulding for little ones, also candle dipping, tea-cup and cupcake candle workshops, Christmas candle workshops, and during the season, drop in sessions for passing families, as well as hen/birthday/work/school outing groups and she will include tea and scones by prior arrangement.
She also sells candles she designs and makes herself, some inspired by Newborough pebbles, so the studio is also worth a visit to find unique gifts even if you don’t want to try your hand with the wax.

I treated my friend to the Christmas candle workshop a few weeks ago and we had a delightful session at the Candle Alchemist. The friendly nature of Anita and her knowledge and top tips and encouragement throughout our session made for a thoroughly enjoyable morning. She structured the course really well to allow us to be creative and achieve a practical and nice candle by the end of the session. My candles are pride of place with my Christmas ornaments. I would wholeheartedly recommend anyone to attend her workshops either in a small group or a larger party. All in all we left feeling like we'd had a good creative session and a catch up and learnt a new skill along the way. Thanks Anita :-)

I booked the course for myself and my gran as a Christmas gift for her for something different. It was great we made Christmas tree candles after making candles out of bees wax. I would definitely go back again! It's a great few hours out to learn something new or if you're stuck on what to get someone as a gift, it's a great present

My girlfriend and I decided to book a candle workshop with Anita. She is such a good teacher and is very patient and knowledgeable. The setting is lovely too. Such a beautiful room which is full of character and charm. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and made a lovely little selection of different types of candles. The pace of the course was ideal. We were allowed plenty of time to choose our fragrances and designs. During the candlemaking we had some great chats with Anita who makes you feel so at home and as though you've known her ages. And with M83 and Bob Marley playing in the background it was all very relaxed! I'd recommend it to anyone and would not hesitate to return for another course. As a bonus, it's only a short distance from Newborough Forest and Llanddwyn Island. We managed to do a course in the morning and have a lovely coastal walk in the afternoon.

What a wonderful way to spend a Saturday morning. I attended a workshop with Anita with my 11 year old daughter. We had a splendid time together. Anita's workshop is a lovely environment...... Truly a candle kingdom. Anita held my daughters interest for a whole 3 hours which is quite something. She adapted her teaching to accommodate both of us. We made pillar candles, scented candles and crafted flower candles. Anita has a wealth of knowledge and is clearly very experienced. We feel that we have learnt the skills required to start making our own candles at home. Totally recommend Anita's workshops be it for a family or a group of friends. Will certainly be booking again soon. Also an unusual way to spend a rainy morning or afternoon on holiday.

Anita is such a knowledgeable, patient, kind and friendly teacher. Anita was also very welcoming to her beautiful, characterful cottage and nothing was too much trouble. Directions were great. I made a real range of candles from some cute candy pink heart shaped tea lights, some meltlets, scented container candles and a pillar candle. I bought a candle making kit to try at home. Having had some ill health recently, I found it very relaxing. Will definitely return. Birthday celebration with cake, candle making and cups of tea ( or something stronger!) I hope!

I've just spent a really enjoyable and informative 3 hours with Anita for a 'one to one' workshop. I'd been making container candles at home and wanted to 'experience' making pillar candles with someone there to show me how to do it and point out what can go right and wrong! Anita is so knowledgeable and willing to share this with you - no matter what basic questions you ask. I learnt so much about waxes, fragrances and candle making techniques and came away with the candles I'd made. The location is great - a big workshop with plenty of room. I'd travelled from some distance away so stayed in the local area which was a great excuse for sightseeing in North Wales. Altogether a great experience that I'd recommend to beginners or those with a bit of candle making knowledge.

I had a fabulous and very interesting afternoon making candles but also learning about all the different elements of candle making. The Old School House enormous room where it all happens is stunning too. Anita is a very knowledgeable and friendly teacher and you can see some of her wonderful work on display. I cannot recommend this experience highly enough - the candles I made were so good that my husband thought that I had bought them! That's how good a teacher Anita is.
Pam Roberts - - #7384

I was lucky enough to attend one of Anita's workshops shortly before Christmas - and am so glad that I did. Under her expert and patient guidance I made a very passable Christmas Tree Candle which surprised and delighted my family as they know that I am a woman of very little talent! It was a really lovely evening . Entertaining and interesting and to top it all off a lovely selection of Christmas goodies all served on pretty China plates with tea or coffee in lovely China cups. I have already recommended the workshops to various friends and very much look forward to repeating the experience long before next Christmas.

My first attempt at candle making - I attended a Christmas Candle workshop in December together with my wife. The friendly welcome from Anita and step by step instruction made this a relaxed and enjoyable afternoon's activity. My wife and I are both delighted with the candles we made and they took pride of place on the Christmas table! I would recommend this workshop to anyone wanting a fun craftmaking afternoon - great location - and the cream tea afterwards topped it off!

Brilliant evening candle making . Looking forward to my next visit in the New Year

I had never made a candle before but I was willing to learn. With Anita’s tuition I found the experience brilliant and I was really pleased with the Christmas tree candle I made. In the workshop housed in an historic building, among friends, this was an excellent way to end our WI year. The bonus of a lovely tea served on decorative china completed a memorable evening. I shall certainly recommend and hope to attend other sessions.
Chris Bowler - - #7006
I went to Anita's workshop with friends and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We each made a Christmas tree candle and as we had never done this sort of thing before, with Anita's guidance we all felt we had achieved a new skill! The session itself was relaxed and a lot of fun. I would certainly consider attending one of her workshops again.
Yvonne Humphreys - - #7004
Haven't had such fun for many years. I never thought learning could be so enjoyable. Real hands-on learning and the most brilliant atmosphere. A great environment and the afternoon tea was an added bonus. Amazing session!

Attended a Xmas candle workshop with a group of friends and what a great time we had. Anita was very informative and helped us when needed. We had a giggle and amazed ourselves with our creations, which were all different. Look forward to going again and will definitely recommend it to my camping customers . Ideal for families or groups and you wouldn't feel out if place if you went on your own. Keep up the good work Anita :)
