Alison reviewed: Upcycling furniture & sustainability workshops

"I had such a lovely day on Kirsty’s upcycling course with my 12 year old daughter. It was a fantastic bonding experience to spend the day with my daughter creating her piece of furniture. We both learnt so much and my daughter is really keen to use her new skills again in the near future. Kirsty was so welcoming and a wealth of knowledge I would 100% recommend this day to others and especially as a fantastic parent/ child bonding day. Thank you so much Kirsty. "

Upcycle Arcade responded:

"I am blown away and really touched by this review. Such lovely words to read. Jess was an angel and grew in confidence as the day progressed which was wonderful to witness. I am so glad you both got so much out of this - the bonding element is so important to my reasons for holding these workshops in the first place. It really was a pleasure. "

Brydon Williams reviewed: Lino printing landscapes

"Cannot recommend this course enough. Lee gently led us into producing some wonderfully coloured and beautiful prints. It’s a day that would suit varying abilities . As a complete’ art’ beginner Lee had a way of giving me confidence to make decisions without taking over. I felt so at ease and too absorbed in the process to feel Inhibited. It was amazing and exciting watching our prints emerge throughout the day each layer informing the next. Will go back for more soon. "

Abigail Dodds reviewed: Introduction to spooncarving at Hill End

"I booked this course as a gift. The recipient really enjoyed it and found David to be very supportive and helpful when the techniques used were a bit trickier than it looked! Although the spoon didn't get quite finished on the day the tools required are easily purchased and spoon making is definitely going to be a new hobby that continues."

David Knight Woodland Crafts responded:

"Hi Abi, thanks so much for the review and I’m pleased that your recipient enjoyed the day. It’s always a challenge to match learning techniques with completing the spoon. I think the journey into the craft is key, especially if it inspires a greater exploration of spooncarving and green woodworking. "

Claire Cooper reviewed: Crafty Basketry's Willow Basket Making for Beginners/Improvers - Day Course at King John's Nursery, Etchingham, East Sussex

"Such an enjoyable day with a very patient teacher. I ended up making a small basket alongside others who made trays and wreaths. The setting was perfect inside the old barn at St. John’s nursery in Etchingham. The rain lashed down the entire day yet this only seemed to add to the calm atmosphere inside. Many giggles were had by all (mostly by me as I quickly realised that I was absolutely not a natural weaver!). Marianne was a wonderful tutor who has a real passion and skill for her art. I would thoroughly recommend spending a day or two basket making, it’s the first time I’ve sat and learnt a new skill in a long time. "

Crafty Basketry responded:

"Thanks so much for recommending my courses, Claire. Weather, learning a new craft, losing concentration because of the banter - you took it all in your stride and came away with a delightful basket! Well done, and look forward to seeing you again next year for day 2."
