We are lucky enough to be able to welcome you to our indoor/outdoor covered barn area which makes a great studio during this challenging period. The pottery wheels are spaced in accordance with the government guidelines so that different households can come and be comfortable whilst enjoying their pottery experience.
This course is designed for those who would just like to try their hand at throwing or have had some previous experience here (perhaps having attended the 2 hour taster session) and would like a little more time to hone in on their skills.
It is also designed with small groups in mind, with the emphasis on as much 1 to 1 tuition as possible and achieving successful and satisfying results. Interestingly, during this 3 hour course our novice, student potters produce some stunning results (see gallery).
Individuals are very welcome to book for themselves or friends in advance . Between four and 6 people can be accommodated at one time
These sessions make great birthday treats, anniversary surprises, Christmas presents or just a great experience. Sessions can be booked A.M or P.M
Please note I am not a 'hobby' potter but a professional.
If you will be redeeming a CraftCourses gift voucher on this course, the voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
(Under normal circumstances)
Included in the course price is tea, coffee on arrival, the clay, firing and glazing of your best pieces of work.
Also included is a great deal of learning and experienced gained during your time (3 hours) here as the classes are deliberately kept small. Our potters find that 3 hours gives them the opportunity to really make some headway in their learning of the pottery skills.
This craft course provider has been awarded Platinum status for receiving 50 or more 5 star ratings from previous students.
The Students' Choice award ensures that course providers get recognised for their efforts in the teaching and practice of UK craft.
They also allow tutors to gain valuable feedback on their courses and for new students to find the course that's right for them.

I booked a three hour pottery throwing class with my mum, and we had such an enjoyable time. Neither of us had ever thrown pots before, and we both created a couple of pieces! Richard was extremely helpful and has so much knowledge to share. Covid restrictions were considered, we both felt very safe. Don't hesitate, just book!
Response from Potterydayz:Great to see you both at Potterydayz, delighted you enjoyed the experience and many thanks for the review
I booked the 3 hour course as a treat, and what a great day it was. Richard had everything set up in the garden undercover, all spaced out and adhering to the covid rules. He expertly showed us what to do and we had lots of goes at trying to make a bowl or vase, some good but most not so good. It was a really fun messy half day, and would recommend to all.
Response from Potterydayz:Thanks for your review Tina, a pleasure to see you here at Potterydayz. See you again soon.
My husband and I recently did a 3 hour course on the wheels with Richard. It was so much fun and so well explained and demonstrated. We both ended up with pots that we are proud of for first attempts.
Richard is so kind, attentive and knowledgeable - what he doesn't know about pottery isn't worth knowing!
We will definitely be back.
This is the second pottery course we have done with Richard, he is an amazing teacher with so much experience and we thoroughly enjoyed it. My son is 15 and doing 3D Art GCSE and this has given him some extra experience during the time he has been away from school during the pandemic. I would highly recommend Richard!
Response from Potterydayz:Thank you very much. Lovely to pot with you both. See you again
Had a super day with my friend - delayed for three months due to the pandemic. It was so good to finally get there!
Richard was very patient with us, showing us how to do it, but also letting us get on with our own ideas, for better or worse!
Response from Potterydayz:Delighted you both enjoyed the day. See you for glazing soon.
My husband bought me a voucher for Christmas - what a great gift this turned out to be. I took a friend along and had a brilliant time with Richard. He was patient with our amateur efforts and generous with his knowledge and expertise. He made us a lovely lunch, and we went home happy and rather grubby! A really enjoyable course - I would thoroughly recommend it.
Although booked as a gift for my partner, both myself and our 14 year old son gate crashed her treat and joined in with making some pots. We all had a great time, thanks to Richard's excellent guidance. We are looking forward to being able to return again soon to Potterydayz.
Response from Potterydayz:Many thanks for the review Tony- it was a pleasure to meet you all and I look forward to your return to Potterydayz
I did this half day course with two friends. Richard is an exceptional teacher - he keeps things clear, gives you plenty of time to learn and try things out without micromanaging, and is extremely supportive and encouraging. We have already been back a second time (with a fourth friend in tow!) and will certainly be returning again in the future. I cannot recommend this half day course highly enough.
Response from Potterydayz:It was a pleasure to see you all here at Potterydayz and I look forward to welcoming you again in the near future. Thank you very much for the review
I surprised my husband on our anniversary with a pottery day.
We had such fun and actually managed to throw a pot or two!
Richard is so easy going, kind and informative.
We loved our day! Thanks Richard at Potterydayz!

Our family bought us vouchers for a half day of pottery. Was extremely pleased with the experience. Richard is very knowledgable and the fact it was just us and him meant we learnt a lot. Looking forwards to painting them once dry. Thank you again Richard.
Absolutely fantastic full day event for 3 - Mum, Dad and 10 year old. Richard was fabulous and throwing pots using the wheel was excellent. Really good value for money and super fun
A thoroughly enjoyable experience which was enhanced with the very attentive, patient and amusing host Richard. Sharing the afternoon with my 13 year old granddaughter was obviously very special but we had such a great time and found the pottery wheel quite addictive. We are both looking forward to glazing our efforts. Thank you.
As a total newbie to pottery I was a little worried about not being able to do anything and coming away disappointed. I couldn’t have been more wrong and my worries were unfounded.
Richard was kind, patient and a brilliant teacher.
I had an absolute blast and can’t wait to see how my items turned out!
It doesn’t matter if you’re a novice or if you’re a worrier, Richard was great throughout the whole session!
I booked a Pottery afternoon for a team of colleagues as a celebration for completing a project. The afternoon was great fun and suitable for all the team. Richard was very accommodating with us all and very enthusiastic and informative teaching us the basics of throwing and hand building. We all learnt a great deal from the session and were all able to make something to take away with us. Would recommend as a great fun team activity!
The session was booked as a surprise for my wife's birthday, something we could both do together. The experience exceed my expectations.
Richard was very knowledgeable and a good teacher plus a nice chap into the bargain. All of which meant we really enjoyed the afternoon.
I thoroughly enjoyed my throwing session with Richard. His instructions were very clear and as an expert thrower he could correct my technique on the spot. Highly recommended
