Pottery throwing sessions with a potter's wheel for up to 4 people (can sometimes cater for more - please enquire with the 'message the tutor' button) run throughout the year with Chris Greening in North Worcester.
A great benefit of this course is that you get to both make and decorate your pots in the same session - there isn't a need to come back to the pottery to do a further decorating stage (unless of course you want to!).
You can choose to book either a one-off lesson that is suitable for absolute beginners as well as those revisiting skills that may have got rusty or, sign up for multiple sessions to complete a pottery project. Please note that the price is per person.
We will use earthenware (the clay used in garden pots) clay with coloured slips (liquid clay) which gives a wide range of decorative options. The lesson will include both making and decorating the pot, a great benefit of slipware pottery - rather than having to return for a separate decorating session.
The workshop is equipped with 4 potter’s wheels and a range of tools which will be available for you to try out.
Pottery is a very broad subject and it can sometimes be difficult to know where to start, but if you just want to “have a go at pottery” then we aim to throw and decorate at least two pots you can either take home (in raw clay state) at the end of the lesson or wait for it to be fired.
Please note - weekend classes require a minimum of two people to book.
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 8 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
One off “taster” lessons, or you can book multiple sessions and work on a range of projects.
A lesson includes approximately 3lb of clay and the firing of two of your pieces, which will be ready to collect in approximately 3 weeks. Alternatively, postage can be arranged if preferred.
- Collection of Pots: Due to lack of storage space I'm afraid I can only hold on to your beautiful pots for a month after they come out of the kiln. After that point they will be disposed of. If you would like your pots but unable to collect them please contact me to discuss postage of your pots and a cost for that.

Fantastic and fun session, booked it for my girlfriend's birthday.
Absolutely loved it, Chris was very helpful, explained a lot of the processes easily and made us feel very welcome to the craft.
Would definitely go again, and highly recommend to others
Response from Chris Greening Pottery:Hi Max,
Picked up my finished items today, thank you Chris for an excellent experience.
The course was booked by my wife as part of my birthday gift having been an avid watcher of the great pottery throw down, I was a little nervous to say the least as watching and doing are polls apart but Chris settled me on arrival.
Once Chris had gone through the usual health and safety as required, he started with a run through work piece as an example then my turn. I am reasonably practical and with Chris’s guidance and encouragement I worked through 4 various pot forms, including the final glazing.
They look fantastic and my wife now has them on show.
Thanks for the experience, an extremely skilled and knowledgeable tutor.
Response from Chris Greening Pottery:Hi Ian,
Excellent pottery class for first timers. Thoroughly enjoyed our experience and would definitely recommend. Thanks Chris
Response from Chris Greening Pottery:Many thanks Rosie; lovely, lively session with lots of great pots made and good fun had in the process. Your pots are drying nicely and will be with you in a few weeks time. I'll be in touch just as they are coming out of the kiln from their second (glaze) firing.
We booked as a surprise for Mother’s day, we were all beginners and the experience was fantastic! Chris is extremely knowledgeable and friendly, he helped all four of us to make lovely sets of pottery. I would highly recommend to anyone who’s ever considered giving it a go, it’s extremely therapeutic and a good experience with others - we had our own pottery throwdown!
Response from Chris Greening Pottery:Many thanks for the lovely review Tia - it was a lovely session and yes, you all made some great pots and then gave them some really good decorating with the slips.
I bought this course as a gift for my mum, who had never thrown on the wheel before. Chris guided us through each step prior to giving it a go ourselves. I really enjoyed seeing my mum having a great time, Chris was also really helpful with anything we were unsure about.
We were super excited to get our finished products back, which we did today and they are fab.
It's lovely to have something tangible to take away from a fun experience together.
The studio was a little chilly but the cup of tea warmed our hands up before getting to work!
Response from Chris Greening Pottery:Many thanks for such a lovely review Hollie. It's especially nice that you and your mum were able to enjoy the experience together.
This was a surprise treat for my wife and I thought that it made a great experience. Chris is a great tutor, balancing the right level of technique and informality to make it a really worthwhile session.
He has excellent facilities with good equipment and everything that you need ready to go in order to maximise your time making and learning.
Really looking forward to collecting our final pieces in a few weeks once fired.
Would recommend this to anyone without hesitation and would happily book back in as it was a great experience.
Response from Chris Greening Pottery:Many thanks for such positive feedback Phil; very much appreciated.
We booked a family pottery session with Chris, what a lovely experience we all had. Chris is clearly very knowledgeable, experienced and patient he provided us all with confidence that we could come away with three pieces of hand made pottery. All of us absolute beginners made three very unique pieces. Looking forward to returning to pick up our items once fired, he has sparked a desire with our children to take pottery up as a hobby.
Response from Chris Greening Pottery:Hi Estelle. Many thanks for the lovely review.
A fantastic course!
I bought this as a Christmas present for my wife in 2020 and took us until August to finally go due to the Pandemic. My wife has wanted to try making some pottery for sometime after watching the Great Pottery Throw down so this seemed like the perfect gift (and we weren't disappointed)
Chris sent plenty of information about how to prepare for the course and also information on the extra COVID precautions taken place. When we arrived we were offered a warm drink and shown through to the workshop. Chris then walked us through all the safety information and gave a quick but detailed demo on how to make a few different shapes. It sounded quite difficult at first, though Chris made it sound easy, and when it came to our turn to have a go he walked us through each step again before letting us get on with it.
We ended up with a few pots and bowls which we then decorated using a variety of techniques before leaving them to dry with collection / delivery to be arranged in a few weeks time. The time flew by and we both found the experience very fun and relaxing. I would recommend this to anyone and would seriously consider doing another one of the courses on offer.
Thank you Chris for a lovely morning, and we're very excited to see how our pots turn out.
Response from Chris Greening Pottery:Hi Richard,
Oh my goodness - this was so much fun! Chris is such a lovely chap and such a good teacher. I suspected that this would be a laugh but possibly a bit disastrous. But with Chris’ guidance, we each ended up with a few very respectable dishes - though we will have to wait a couple of weeks now to see if they make it through the firing!
I had some ideas in mind that I had emailed to Chris in advance and he had taken the time to think about how to achieve what I was after and come up with some great ideas.
I wholeheartedly recommend taking the workshop if you are in the area.
Response from Chris Greening Pottery:Hi Hazel,
A really enjoyable 1 1/2 hours. Chris was excellent at showing and telling us what to do to make tapas dishes. A friendly chap, with a well stocked studio, he made it look so easy. At the end of the lesson we’d both made 3 or 4 dishes each.....and had glazed them too. I recommend that anyone should have a go...it’s great fun, and quite therapeutic once you get the hang of it. Looking forward to collecting the fruits of our labour in a few weeks time :)
Response from Chris Greening Pottery:Hi Nigel,
I really enjoyed my pottery class, I haven’t worked with clay since school but I remembered loving it. Was the first time I used a wheel but Chris was so patient teaching me the steps. Was such a peaceful and relaxing experience. I’m so pleased with my pieces. Definitely would love to learn more. Thank you Chris
Response from Chris Greening Pottery:Many thanks for the lovely review Paula - really pleased that you enjoyed the experience and the pots you made - they really are nice.
Thoroughly recommend a pottery class with Chris. His calm, patient and clear instructions meant that even I , as an absolute beginner, was able to produce some beautiful pieces that I am very proud of.
Response from Chris Greening Pottery:Many thanks for the lovely review Sandra. It was a great session and you did make some lovely pots!
Being a novice, I was not sure what I would achieve in 1 1/2 hrs, but with encouragement and guidance from Chris I made 4 different pots of varying sizes, and they didn't fall over!!
Excellent tuition throughout. Can't wait to see the final results.
Many thanks Chris
Response from Chris Greening Pottery:Many thanks for the kind comments David.
What an amazing teacher and wonderful course. Chris is just brilliant, he made the course so enjoyable and his teaching technique was easy follow and made you feel empowered. For someone with no previous experience I came away on a high and something I and my friend want pursue. The surroundings are so professional and everything to accommodate COVID was in place and explained, the set up made easy and safe at all times. Chris and his course are amazing. Loved it!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Response from Chris Greening Pottery:Many thanks Eileen for such a positive review, it is greatly appreciated. It was a really fun session, lots of chat and jokes but also some great pots made; which are also the precursor to more grand things by yourself and Jen in your studio - I look forward to seeing future results!
We had an excellent one-day course with Chris last month. He was a brilliant teacher, encouraging us to develop and improve our pottery skills, and to try out new approaches too. Chris explained things really clearly and carefully and also gave demonstrations of various throwing and decorating techniques. After the morning session we had a delicious lunch in the garden and then spent the afternoon working on creating more pots and using slip to decorate them. The whole day was thoroughly enjoyable and we hope to return again soon. Many thanks!
Response from Chris Greening Pottery:Many thanks Becky for the positive review - it was a great day. Always nice to run a full day allowing those with existing pottery skills to have some dedicated time on a wheel and developing those skills further. Even better when it's possible to introduce some new techniques such as slip decorating.
Booked this for me and my mum for her birthday. Neither of us really knew what to expect but Chris was so welcoming and friendly, and above all patient while teaching us how to use the pottery wheel. Communication was excellent throughout the booking process, and it all felt incredibly safe and mindful of COVID guidelines during the lesson. Really enjoyed the experience - actually coming home with several lovely, useable pots was a bonus! Would thoroughly recommend to anyone looking for a bit of an unusual afternoon treat.
Response from Chris Greening Pottery:Hi Natalia,
The course was fantastic. Everything very well set up and prepared, excellent clear and patient instruction with lots of encouragement and great facilities. We were a family of three and everyone loved the experience and we were all really pleased with our pots! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to others.
Response from Chris Greening Pottery:Many thanks for the lovely review Jackie - it's lovely to know you all enjoyed the course so much - and you've still got the excitement to come of seeing your fantastic pots!
I bought this course as a present for my girlfriend's birthday - safe to say, we both loved it!
As true beginners, this course was perfect. Chris is clearly extremely knowledgeable and a very good tutor. Chris gave fab hints and tips throughout the pot-making process, while still allowing us to keep the pots looking like our own - a tad wonky :P
With Chris' help we were able to pick it up very quickly and come away having made and decorated a succession of fantastic looking bowls, which we can't wait to pick up and display with pride in the coming weeks!
The social distancing/PPE guidance and measures put in place by Chris were more than adequate and allowed us both to enjoy the evening without concern.
Bonus points, we stumbled across a fellow geologist!!!
Thanks again, Chris, for a fabulous evening - we will certainly be returning!
Dan & Charlotte :)
Response from Chris Greening Pottery:Hi Dan & Charlotte.
Chris makes the course relaxing and enjoyable giving clear instructions and help and advice in a friendly and positive way. You get to make a number of things and decorate them. Great fun and a feeling that you have achieved something.
Response from Chris Greening Pottery:Many thanks Miles. Lovely few hours exploring clay and what it has to offer. One or two of them may offer themselves up for eating your honey out of! Best wishes, Chris.
Bought as a present for my mum, we both loved it and were able to learn some of the basics while creating and decorating some pretty pots, lovely workshop, friendly and attentive guy, would recommend to anyone. Thanks again Chris
Response from Chris Greening Pottery:Many thanks Gabriel - really good, fun session. The espresso mugs and tapas bowls are making their way through the two firings and will be ready to enjoy soon.
As first time potters we thoroughly enjoyed our time with Chris and what a great teacher he is!
We managed to produce 6 pots between us that we shall display with pride.
Many thanks Chris.
Response from Chris Greening Pottery:Some great work made - always lovely to see people enjoying their first experience of pottery. Many thanks for the kind words.
What a lovely day making pottery for the first time! Chris was a great teacher and we could all add our own creative touch to each pot. The steps involved are so interesting and it was so much fun using the wheel and decorating our pots! I will definitely be returning and I’ll be bringing friends too. Thanks so much Chris!
Response from Chris Greening Pottery:Hi Megan - many thanks for the kind comments. Some great pots made and decorated and will be out of the kiln in about 3 weeks.
Had a brilliant time with Chris, learning the basics of pottery. The explanations were very clear and Chris was very patient! We also learnt how to decorate what we had made which was a lot of fun. It was really interesting finding out about the different techniques and I would definitely recommend this to anyone.
Response from Chris Greening Pottery:Many thanks Bethan. The tapas dishes were fantastic and drying nicely on the shelf. They'll be ready for that tapas party in 3 weeks! best wishes, Chris.
Went for a birthday surprise and it did not disappoint.
It was a really wonderful and honest experience. Chris was incredibly patient and kind and we will both treasure our pots that we made forever. Would highly recommend this gorgeous adventure.
Response from Chris Greening Pottery:Many thanks Lesley-Anne for the lovely review. It was a really great session - you both immersed yourselves in the throwing and decorating process, which is always nice and some great pots came out of the kiln.
Had a great afternoon with Chris, potting again after a 30 Yr gap! Surprised that I still had a feel for the clay, but needed Chris' expert guidance to get the best from it.
Collecting pots soon, so looking forward to seeing the results.
Good value, and a fun afternoon!
Response from Chris Greening Pottery:Many thanks Bill.
Chris was really knowledgable and very friendly. It was great to see from a lump of clay how easy it is to form into something handmade! It would have been great to have had a little longer as the decorating felt a bit rushed.
Response from Chris Greening Pottery:Many thanks for the review Claire. The pots were lovely and just right for that tapas and nibbles evening! Best wishes, Chris.
We had a day with Chris and Sarah; pottery in the morning and glass fusion in the afternoon with a lovely lunch in the middle. Really great day and very highly recommended. Thanks both... We had such a great time. Looking forward to picking up all of our "stuff" in a few weeks 😁😁
Response from Chris Greening Pottery:Many thanks Karen - I was very impressed how you and Stuart grasped the fundamentals and produced both technically and decoratively really nice pieces - I suspect there will be a very colourful tapas evening soon?! Best wishes, Chris.
Had a fantastic pottery session with Chris ...learning how to throw some pots with my daughter and niece. We had great fun and felt the joys of being creative.
Thanks so much
Response from Chris Greening Pottery:Many thanks Chris - it was a great session - and some very nice pots made and all ready for you to collect. There was certainly a creative atmosphere evident!
Really fun introduction into pottery. Chris was incredibly helpful in showing us how to get started and guiding us throughout the day. Will be going back again. 10/10 from all of us on the day.
Response from Chris Greening Pottery:Many thanks Paul - it was a really good session. Your artistic flair definitely shone through! Cheers, Chris.
I bought this as a Xmas present for my wife and two dear friends (these days more elk like) and we had a blast.
Chris and Sarah are very welcoming and very informative with calming guidance when things literally spin out of control.
The time we had was nicely structured and relaxed and the items we produced looked good (Paul you still win ) for mere amateurs.
General consensus is we will be coming back for more ........ cheers Chris & Sarah
Response from Chris Greening Pottery:Many thanks Scot for the lovely review - and to Paul, Kate & Ruth for your enthusiasm in the session; it was great fun. The pots are drying nicely and will be going into the kiln for the first of two firings very soon.
My lovely daughters, Fiona and Sally, bought me a pottery taster session with Chris Greening Pottery. Chris was a wonderful teacher and we had a fantastic time. We even managed to make some bowl shaped objects which was due to his patience and expertise. They arrived today and following the firing look amazing! Thanks to Chris for a highly entertaining and instructive evening. Highly recommended
Response from Chris Greening Pottery:Many thanks Colin. It was a great session; some lovely pots made and great fun. Best wishes, Chris.
I was given a craft course voucher and so pleased that I found Chris. It had been a bucket list thing for me to use a potters wheel to make a pot and absolutely loved the day I spent at his studio. Chris is so knowledgeable and patient by the end of the day I had created a whole tapas bowl set! I can highly recommend him and cant wait to book again to develop my skills further.
Response from Chris Greening Pottery:Many thanks Maggie.
A fantastic few hours with my family celebrating my birthday. Chris is a patient teacher......he needed to be, we were rubbish but we had such fun. 😃 I've collected our fired pots today and I'm so pleased with the results, they look beautiful.
Chris is very patient and a good teacher. He makes sure you leave with a sense of achievement and a couple or more pots, ready for firing. It was good fun and great to have one teacher to just two of us, so we both really learned something and improved, even in our one and a half hour slot. I'll definitely be booking more sessions.
Response from Chris Greening Pottery:Many thanks Julie. I'm pleased to read you both enjoyed the lesson and are considering developing the skills you gained in the 1.5 hour slot.
My girlfriend and I booked a 1.5 hour pottery lesson with Chris, and it was brilliant! 10 minutes of guiding us through the process and we were straight on to the wheel, with Chris guiding us every step of the way. At the end we had a few pots ready for us to decorate, which will be sent to us when ready. A great experience for anyone wanting a practical introduction to pottery - great fun.
We had a brilliant day with Chris for my daughter's birthday. He very kindly made us a tailor made course and managed to squeeze five people into his workshop and garden! We were there from 11-4 and took it in turns to use the wheels and a little hand building.
What stood out to me was the incredibly thoughtful organisation. Every detail - down to a lovely lunch was planned out. Chris started out by demonstrating basic throwing and then patiently guided each of us through making our first pot - or saucer in my case!! By pot 3, nice little bowls were being produced despite us all being beginners. After lunch we went out in the garden and enjoyed some messy play with slip to decorate our pots.
I would highly recommend Chris as a teacher - he is patient and very encouraging. He even made each of us a bowl to decorate in case ours didn't turn out.
My friend and I had a lovely time learning a new craft, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this course to anyone who wanted to try it, Chris was very patient (he had to be as neither of us had a natural skill) :-)
Did this course as an "all day" session along with the glass fusing taster. It was a great day out. Chris was really helpful and made sure we all got to a good result. My only point of note is that it was cold - to be fair this was pointed out on the joining instructions but I'd definitely have taken more layers if I'd thought about it!
Had a brilliant time having a go at pottery with Chris. He is a great teacher and was even happy to post the pots we made to us after they had been through the kiln
I’ve already recommended the workshop to friends
Chris was really friendly and helpful for me as a total beginner. He teaches really well with clear demonstrations and most importantly let’s you have plenty of time at the wheel. Doing some coloured slips was a super bonus that I wasn’t expecting! I highly recommend...
Fantastic day, 6 hours, 7 pieces made and decorated. All with patience and good humour. And after firing you get to take the work home. Just hope the pots are as good as my imagination has been telling me! Top job Chris.
I have now enjoyed two courses of 8 lessons with Chris.
He is a brilliant teacher and has so much patience ! I enjoyed all my lessons and am really pleased with the many things I made . Making pots, bowls and mugs on the wheel was great fun but I especially enjoyed making tiles /coasters and some long tapas dishes using slab rolled clay. Decorating everything using different coloured slips was fantastic fun too; even though I am no artist , with guidance from Chris I made things I am really proud of !
I can 100% recommend Chris to anyone considering pottery lessons.
Chris was friendly and patient! It was our first time using a potters wheel, he demonstrated first then let us loose on the wheels! His guidance was so good we managed to make 3 lovely items each just in the one off session. We would both highly recommend Chris and would like to go back ourselves! Very good value for money and such a lovely experience!
I returned with my son to spend another satisfying morning with Chris trying to improve my throwing skills and learning how to work with clay . This time we produced some fairly decent mugs. Think I am beginning to get the hang of it ! Chris is a great teacher. Such an enjoyable time and great experience . Everyone should try it !
I booked an introductory taster course with Chris, and had an absolutely fantastic time! I wasn't very confident initially, but Chris provided great tuition and support. He patiently guided me to produce several bowls/pots - and didn't mind at all when I required a few attempts to get it right! I was really pleased with my finished products - which we coloured with slip - and can't wait to see them once the firing process is complete. I would highly recommend this course to anyone - Chris has amazing skill at both pottery and tuition; you will have an amazing time!
We had a fantastic class with Chris for our 9th (pottery) wedding anniversary. Chris was a clear and patient teacher so that we were soon able to use the wheel to create our own pots. We even got given some that he’d made to dip in the coloured slip to take home as well. Thanks for a great time.
Chris was patient, kind and hugely generous with his time and knowledge. He made the pottery course extra special. Pottery was a 'bucket list thing' for me and I am so glad that we chose Chris (and the lovely Sarah) cannot recommend the courses highly enough and have already booked to go back. Nicki x
Until my time with Chris, I had had no experience with pottery but was given three hours of tuition as a present. Chris provided patient and expert tuition in a warm, friendly environment with lots of tea. I ended up making seven different items over two sessions in two different glazes - from small mugs, to dishes for serving, say, nuts or olives. Chris looks after all the firing and keeps in regular contact to arrange pick-up of finished items.
I am really pleased with the results and the whole experience was really enjoyable - Chris is great company and offers the opportunity to move on to the next project, taking learned skills a bit further each time.
Would thoroughly recommend to anyone wishing to have a go at this lovely craft. :-)
My mum and I had so much fun doing our one off pottery session with Chris. I felt very comfortable and completely at ease. I had no experience with pottery at all before we went, but finished the session with two little bowls and an interest in pursuing pottery as a hobby. Chris was very patient and an excellent teacher. I really enjoyed myself!
My daughter and I had a one-off lesson with Chris (my birthday present from hubby). We spent a very enjoyable time throwing pots. Chris demonstrated all the steps and was very patient when I forgot what to do! He explained everything very clearly and was very helpful. A great evening. Thanks.
Alice and I spent a most enjoyable morning working on the potters wheels in Chris’s well equipped workshop. We even managed to produce some mugs and bowls! Chris was a very knowledgeable, patient and encouraging teacher and it was great to have some one to one tuition.
Looking forward to collecting our finished products when they have been glazed and fired.
I would thoroughly recommend this course.
I went with my mother in law as a joint Christmas present from my sister in law and we had a fabulous time! We've both done a bit before and Chris was very adaptable, gauged our abilities very quickly and supported us as and when needed. We both felt much more confident as a result! He offered lots of tips and suggested various methods that helped me find my feet again on a wheel. He taught me alternative methods for handles and glazing that were interesting and much easier than I had learnt previously! The morning flew by and we had a wonderful time! Totally recommended and hope to go again soon!
I booked 6 lessons with Chris and enjoyed every minute. Chris is a skilled teacher, very encouraging, explains everything really clearly and helps you produce beautiful pieces of pottery. I came away with an assortment of mugs, bowls and little vases, a full set of clay stamps (which were fun designing!) and a knowledge of how to throw, slip and decorate my creations.
I am hoping to now join a community pottery near home where I can continue my new passion.
I had a one to one pottery lesson with Chris, my christmas present from my wife!
Chris was an excellent and patient teacher I thoroughly enjoyed myself and came away with five pots to show off my prowess.
I wouldn't hesitate to reccomend this course to anyone, I'm thinking of taking 2 others with me to try the three to one course.
My boyfriend organised for us both to complete a one off pottery class as my christmas gift which we completed last Thursday evening. I had wanted to have a go since watching The Great Pottery Throwdown. I had a fantastic evening having a go on the wheel and decorating tiles (both were harder than they looked) but Chris was a great teacher who was patient, informative and made us both feel at ease. We are already looking to book again and I am recommending to friends and family! The only bad thing was that my boyfriend was better than me!
My Mum encouraged me to have a go as I don't have the patience for many creative pastimes. I really enjoyed it; Chris is very good, responsive to whatever you wish to achieve. I had such a good time, I booked 6 more lessons. I'm making Mum a Christmas present now - she might regret the initial suggestion!
This was a fantastic evening. Chris is a most patient and encouraging teacher, and the individual support he offers really builds your confidence. The joy of being able to get straight into throwing a pot, and the sense of achievement at producing them, with his skilled guidance, made this a most memorable evening. I hadn't thrown a pot for nearly 50years and he made me believe I could do it again. Thankyou Chris.
Chris's Introduction to Pottery course was a fabulous birthday gift from my husband. I thoroughly enjoyed my lesson with Chris, he was welcoming, friendly and patient. We started with how to centre the clay on the wheel and ended with several small pots of various shapes and sizes. I'm looking forward to picking them up in a couple of weeks, I have the pottery bug and will be booking my next lesson soon.
An excellent evening with Chris who encouraged myself and my husband to enjoy our first pottery experience. Chris is welcoming and shares his knowledge of pottery with enthusiasm, clarity and patience. We learned how to 'throw' pots and decorate tiles...collecting them glazed a few weeks later. Many thanks Chris.
I had two lessons with Chris as a birthday gift as i am a big fan of the pottery throwdown on TV! I have to say i thoroughly enjoyed both lessons and it has given me a real enthusiasm for pot throwing. Chris was very welcoming, easy to get on with, explained everything slowly and clearly and was very encouraging. I created some small pots and a mug on first lesson and some bowls on my second lesson. He glazed and fired my first pots for me so they were ready to take away on my second lesson which was great. I also had some tiles to take home and scraffitto which was good fun and my wife and kids had a go too! A really great experience with a patient and knowledgeable potter - highly recommended.
A one-off pottery lesson as a birthday present, and it was hugely enjoyable and satisfying for a novice potter ! I learned to throw pots and decorate tiles, and returned later to collect my glazed items after firing. So pleased with my efforts, and many thanks Chris.
I really enjoyed my lessons with Chris, he is a skilled and patient teacher, and was happy to focus on my area of interest. As a beginner I learnt how to throw on the wheel, and was thrilled to see my progression as the pots improved: It was very exciting to see my final pieces once glazed and out of the kiln! Thanks to Chris, I can now throw confidently, and understand the processes of working with clay. I learned a lot through the clearly guided one-to-one tuition and would highly recommend this course.
