Maker's bio

I started work as a hydrographic surveyor following a degree in marine geology. Whilst it might be a bit of a leap from dredging up clay to using it on a potter’s wheel, the influence of the marine environment is evident in my work. I use coloured liquid clay (slip) which provides a fantastic fluid palette for me to explore geological and marine geomorphology patterns. A member of both the Midlands and, Westcountry Potters Associations I run market stalls across Worcestershire and beyond.

Liz Price reviewed: Pottery/ceramics throwing courses in Worcester

"My friend Helen and I attended Chris' pottery course a week ago and it was brilliant. Chris gave us a fabulous demonstration with easy to follow steps. We managed to make 3 pots each we're really looking forward to getting the fired pots back. "

Chris Greening Pottery responded:

" Hi Liz, Many thanks for such a positive message - some lovely pots made which have been drying well in the current heatwave and have already had their first firing. They'll soon be going into the kiln for their second (glaze) firing; I'll be in touch soon to reunite them with you! Best wishes, Chris."

Ian D reviewed: Pottery/ceramics throwing courses in Worcester

"Picked up my finished items today, thank you Chris for an excellent experience. The course was booked by my wife as part of my birthday gift having been an avid watcher of the great pottery throw down, I was a little nervous to say the least as watching and doing are polls apart but Chris settled me on arrival. Once Chris had gone through the usual health and safety as required, he started with a run through work piece as an example then my turn. I am reasonably practical and with Chris’s guidance and encouragement I worked through 4 various pot forms, including the final glazing. They look fantastic and my wife now has them on show. Thanks for the experience, an extremely skilled and knowledgeable tutor."

Chris Greening Pottery responded:

" Hi Ian, Many thanks for your kind words; really pleased that you enjoyed the experience and weren't daunted by the various processes - and it shows in the lovely pots you made! I'm particularly pleased that you are using the pots! It's sad to hear when pots get shoved into a cupboard never to be seen again, particularly when they are good pots with a purpose and a life to lead. Best wishes, Chris."

"Excellent pottery class for first timers. Thoroughly enjoyed our experience and would definitely recommend. Thanks Chris"

Chris Greening Pottery responded:

" Many thanks Rosie; lovely, lively session with lots of great pots made and good fun had in the process. Your pots are drying nicely and will be with you in a few weeks time. I'll be in touch just as they are coming out of the kiln from their second (glaze) firing. Best wishes, Chris."
