Maker's bio

I started work as a hydrographic surveyor following a degree in marine geology. Whilst it might be a bit of a leap from dredging up clay to using it on a potter’s wheel, the influence of the marine environment is evident in my work. I use coloured liquid clay (slip) which provides a fantastic fluid palette for me to explore geological and marine geomorphology patterns. A member of both the Midlands and, Westcountry Potters Associations I run market stalls across Worcestershire and beyond.

David Harbon reviewed: Pottery/ceramics throwing courses in Worcester

"Excellent experience all round. Chris was great, warm and very welcoming. My wife had always wanted to use the potters wheel and she wasn’t disappointed. We have talked about going back in the New Year and doing the longer session. Looking forward to that."

Chris Greening Pottery responded:

" Many thanks for the lovely review David. Great session, interesting chat about all sorts of things. Your pots are drying nicely and should be going into the kiln for the first of their two firings next week. I shall be in touch soon. Best wishes Chris"

Tony Lee reviewed: Pottery/ceramics throwing courses in Worcester

"The whole afternoon was very enjoyable...we were carefully guided and congratulated, even when the pot collapsed Fully recommended for all adults, whether talented or not"

Chris Greening Pottery responded:

" Many thanks for the lovely review Tony. Your pots are drying nicely ready for their two firings. I don't recall a collapsed pot! There may have been one "prototype" that had a "relaxed" attitude..... Best wishes Chris "

Katy reviewed: Pottery/ceramics throwing courses in Worcester

"Chris is an absolutely brilliant teacher. The whole day was fun and engaging. I am a complete novice but really felt I could get to grips with what I was being taught. His studio is fantastic with lots of great pottery for sale. Both him and his wife are very welcoming into their home and all in all I had a lovely day. I came away with a couple of my own made pieces!! I would definitely go again!"

Chris Greening Pottery responded:

" What a lovely review Katy - many thanks. Some really excellent pots created which reflects your existing expertise in woodwork translated into a meticulous approach to the work created. A really nice day working with clay. Best wishes, Chris. "
