Maker's bio

I started work as a hydrographic surveyor following a degree in marine geology. Whilst it might be a bit of a leap from dredging up clay to using it on a potter’s wheel, the influence of the marine environment is evident in my work. I use coloured liquid clay (slip) which provides a fantastic fluid palette for me to explore geological and marine geomorphology patterns. A member of both the Midlands and, Westcountry Potters Associations I run market stalls across Worcestershire and beyond.

Helen reviewed: Pottery Throwing (Group Discounts Available) Lessons in Worcester

"A really fun experience and a memorable day! Chris was brilliant at teaching us (from scratch!) and being very patient with all our questions and inexperience. A fantastic, well run course. Can’t wait to see our final pottery pieces in a few weeks 😊 "

Hannah Bowman reviewed: Pottery Throwing (Group Discounts Available) Lessons in Worcester

"Had a great first time experience on the wheel! Chris explained everything really clearly, was extremely knowledgeable and just generally a lovely guy. We both managed to make a couple of decent looking pots with no disasters, which I was amazed at! And to get them decorated in the time too was an added bonus. Would highly recommend paying Chris a visit. "

Chris Greening Pottery responded:

" Many thanks for your lovely review Hannah - it's always lovely when people get stuck into the lesson and have a project in mind. Your pots have actually had their first (biscuit) firing and are waiting to come out of the kiln, get their transparent glaze and have their second firing; they should be ready in a couple of weeks. Best wishes, Chris "

Mark reviewed: Pottery Throwing (Group Discounts Available) Lessons in Worcester

"My wife and I attended a pottery throwing session with Chris, and we had a fantastic time. Chris is a natural teacher, and a very friendly chap. He welcomed us in and despite us both being complete novices, soon had us producing our pots and bowls. Highly recommend this very enjoyable experience!"

Chris Greening Pottery responded:

" Many thanks for such a lovely review Mark - it's always great when people get stuck into the process. With the warm weather and the excellent way you threw your pots they have already had their first (biscuit) firing and just started their second glaze firing so will be ready very soon for you to collect! Best wishes, Chris. "

Jean Knight reviewed: Pottery Throwing (Group Discounts Available) Lessons in Worcester

"This was bought as a gift for myself and my daughter. I would recommend the experience. Chris took us through step by step and then repeated it when necessary. It was very relaxing and enjoyable. He made it a very positive activity. We are waiting for our works of art to be ready for collection."

Chris Greening Pottery responded:

" Many thanks for the lovely review and recommendation to others Jean. It's always lovely seeing people adapt existing craft skills to pottery and you definitely showed that. Some very nice pots thrown and decorated which are drying nicely on the shelves awaiting the first of their two firings. They should be with you in about 3 weeks time if we can get some warmer weather to dry them first! Best wishes, Chris."
