About the Course
This is a fun course where you will learn a wonderful new skill! The course is run over two mornings with a little homework to do overnight! I will be in the studio to greet you and make you feel at ease from 09:45am on the first morning and we will very quickly have you cutting glass. I then demonstrate 'how to copper foil' your glass - this is a technique first developed by Louis Comfort Tiffany.
The art of soldering is then demonstrated and how to change the colour of that solder by using either a copper or black patina. Now comes the exciting bit - you get to choose the coloured glass for your suncatcher! Next, with my help you will cut the shapes for your 'cartoon' and grind all the edges, ready for you to copper foil them at home.
The next morning is spent soldering, polishing and if there is time patinating your finished masterpiece! It’s amazing what can be learned in 5 hours tuition!
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
What's included in the price?
Use of all tools. All materials to make your glass suncatcher. Please feel free to help yourself to the coffee and tea making facilities which are available in the studio.
I did a soldering refresher course at this studio. Roe is a great teacher and had done a pattern for me to foil and solder to make my course worthwhile. I was just expecting to come away with some scraps but instead I have a great suncatcher. Roe is calm and very patient with students. The studio is comfortable and I felt it was money well spent.

Response from Glass Act Studio:Thank you very much Heather! X
I first went to a mosaic course in January, absolutely loved it! Then booked straight away to do a stained glass course, in fact, I did 2! Roe is a wonderful teacher, she really explains and helps you through the process. It's a really nice comfortable studio, with only a couple of other people in the class so you really get lots of help.
And....access to the most amazing materials because Roe has been working with glass for 20 years plus, she has the most incredible stash of glass that you can use.
Cannot recommend highly enough, a good few of my friends and customers have gone on to do courses with Roe.
