‘Playing with mud’ - daytime weekly pottery course

Making a bespoke door number plaque for students home

During this 5 week course, you will receive a 2.5 hour session where you will be guided through a range of hand building skills; including coiling, slab building, pinch pots, using formers and moulds. Exploring surface decoration using textures & stamps, sgraffito and carving, as well as using slips and underglazes to create beautiful and unique pieces.

These sessions are suitable for complete beginners, or more experienced makers who want to brush up on skills or try something new.

If you want to continue your ceramics journey beyond your introduction to clay, further blocks of 5 sessions can be booked, and these will continue each Wednesday morning from 10.00 - 12.30.

Our dedicated teaching space and ceramic studio is situated on a Heritage site at Higherford Mill, one of the oldest weaving sheds in the country, located in the heart of the beautiful Pendle landscape. Our well equipped studio offers students access to professional ceramic studio equipment such as a slab roller and extruder and a wide variety of specialist pottery hand tools.

These weekly sessions are delivered in a fun and friendly way, and are designed to encourage you to realise your own creative ideas. You can make anything from porcelain decorations or sculptural objects through to functional items such as a set of bespoke mugs.

All sessions are socially distanced and covid compliant.

All pottery sessions are subject to a minimum attendance of 3 people and a maximum of 6. Should there be less than 3 people registered for the workshops then unfortunately the course will be cancelled and an alternative date will be offered or a full refund given.

Stella has BA Honours degree (first class) in Fine Art and has over 10 years experience of teaching creative workshops to people of all ages and abilities. I would love the opportunity to share with you the joys of making with clay and encourage you to explore your creativity.

Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
