Boat making day using the technique of sgraffito on coloured glass

Description

In this one day, one to one course you will learn the fascinating mark making technique of sgraffito. This involves applying black enamel over coloured bullseye glass and 'scratching out' a design to reveal the colours underneath. This includes: Creating a design on paper Matting with black glass enamel Using various tools and templates to create shapes and textures On completion you will take home your own bullseye glass sailing boat with a cast jesomite base and series of your own glass design experiments. The studio is well ventilated and perspex screens have been placed over the tables, all PPE will be provided.

All tools and materials, glass firings and jesomite base are included in price, Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided and there will be a break for lunch.

"I'd been interested in learning to glass paint for a while and found this course during lockdown. I attended the course as soon as the restrictions were lifted. Brian's keen attention to the social distancing protocols meant that I felt safe to spend the day in the chapel — a light, airy and well equipped space, perfect for the class. Brian has a relaxed, patient and informative teaching style and I would highly recommend a day in the chapel studio to create some amazing pieces of art. I now feel confident to have a go at scraffito glass painting myself and plan to go back to the chapel for another course soon."
