About the Course
During this 3-day hands on course you get to choose a leather handbag that you wish to make from a selection of patterns. You will learn how to cut the leather from a pattern, hand-stitch the bag and to finish all the leather edges. You will also get to choose from a selection of vegetable tanned leather and the hardware you wish to use.
This class is perfect for beginners. You will learn all the basics and get an understanding of what tools & materials you will need to continue making bags at home.
On the introductory leatherwork craft online course I will tell you where to get the tools and the leather, alternatively I can send out a leather template to you which is precut but not punched. There will be a small charge if this is how you would like to do this. Alternatively, I will send out the paper template and you can cut and punch the holes as required.
This can be completed in one day or over 10 hours in 2 hour sessions if this is easier for you. This is carried out using Skype. I will give you the Skype name upon signing up for the course.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
What's included in the price?
You will need your own tools - a hand punch for punching holes in leather, wax thread, needles, brown dye, some kind of cutting implement - scissors, Stanley knife or rolling cutting knife. I will send the leather template out either by pdf or post.
Alternatively I can make up the leather template for you but it will not be punched. Or I can make up a leather kit including the template and leather for £35.
Course dates are flexible; please get in touch for the next available date.
