Debbie Twell reviewed: Stained glass weekly classes in Sheffield (South Yorkshire)

"I have been lucky to take part in Martin’s Stained glass classes for the last 4 years. I can definitely recommend them for many reasons. Martin is an excellent, highly knowledgable and patient tutor in all forms of glass creativity – Traditional leaded stained glass, tiffany, fused and painted glass. The classes take place in very comfortable and well resourced workshops (with covid safe precautions in place for the last 2 years). He is always there to teach you new techniques and support you to help you solve any problems in your work. I also really enjoy seeing the work that others are making – it is truly amazing seeing the skill and ideas of others around you. Without exception, everyone is welcoming and friendly, and happy to share their work. A great experience on many fronts – give it a go, you wil not regret it!"

The pace of the day and relaxed way of expertly guiding the group through the process was pitched just right, enabling everyone to take home something clearly resembling a spoon! The course definitely inspired me and I'm already planning my next spoon to put my new found knowledge to the test. The brilliant course notes are a helpful reminder of the information shared on the day."

Lucy reviewed: Spoon Carving with Touchwood Glasgow

"This was an excellent course and one I'd be happy to recommend. I had absolutely no experience of wood carving going in to the course but by the end of the day was the proud owner of a lovely spoon I'd made myself. Robert is a brilliant teacher with years of experience and clearly very knowledgeable about wood carving. He was able to provide hands on advice and support while also allowing lots of freedom to make my own creative choices. The group of people attending were also very supportive and this made for a lovely atmosphere. I was delighted with what I was helped to accomplish in just one day and hope to repeat the course again at some point to see what else I can come up with."

Lorna Radbourne reviewed: Glass painting taster day

"Derek walked us, step by step, through the processes involved in glass painting from the tools and materials to the personal tips he has discovered from his many years of experience . His relaxed clear and concise approach was perfect to illustrate the best practises while painting onto glass . We were encouraged to experiment with the newly learned painting techniques and ask as many questions as needed .The amount of information Derek could give in one day was amazing .The warm welcome we received from Derek and his wife and the refreshments throughout the day added to a relaxed and really enjoyable day . It was really helpful that Derek offered any further advice needed even after the course! A superb stained glass course ."

Susan VANNER reviewed: Sculpture workshop two days with Jo Garden Art in beautiful rural Norfolk/Suffolk border setting

"25/26th March 22 What a fantastic 2 days I’ve had. The most wonderful setting for just doing your project with Jo’s sculpture’s dotted around the grounds, as if you needed more encouragement! Jo is so enthusiastic and encouraging, she is with you every step of the way. This is the second two day workshop I have done, the first being a leaping hare, he sits in my garden quite happily but now this time I’ve done ‘The Lady’ she is a metre high and I’m so proud of her. It was a lovely group of 4 of us all doing different things and Jo was at our side every step of the way, what more could you want! WILL be coming again. Thank you so much xx"

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you Susan ? It was wonderful having you back in the studio again. 'The Lady' evolved over the two days from a piece of angle iron into a sassy woman. You made everything from the curvaceous body through to the hat and garments finished in bronze and brilliant blue. Fabulous! Now what will be next ...... ? Jo x"
