Jack Smellie reviewed: Wool processing workshop

"I attended one of Lisa's courses with a friend and cannot recommend the course highly enough. Lisa was friendly, welcoming and enormously knowledgeable AND so so passionate about wool and all its uses. I learnt loads, came away far more confident and am now thoroughly enjoying my own wool journey with my own fleeces. These courses are such value for money and with a maximum of four attendees, you really do get individual attention and tuition! It was fabulous to meet individual sheep and learn how to assess their wool and then transfer that knowledge to the actual processing (carding, felting etc). This is a course that delivers everything it says and more."

This course would be perfect for complete novices as well as those with experience... it felt like a luxury having a quiet day working with clay and experimenting. Denise Brown reviewed: Wooden Pendant Carving with Giles Newman

"A very enjoyable course carving oak leaf pendants under the encouraging and watchful gaze of master woodsmith Giles. A lovely, cosy workshop with welcoming hosts and copious tea…couldn’t ask for more really! Best of all, was the chance to see some of Giles’s amazing work close up - truly inspiring. It was such a relaxing and creative day, I came away with the confidence to start carving another pendant at home. I would highly recommend this course."

Gill reviewed: Lino cutting for Beginners and Rusty Printmakers

"Alison and Liz were very welcoming and friendly. The tables were well spaced out with plenty of workspace. The day was very well planned out and Liz was informative and encouraging. Alison kept us supplied with drinks and biscuits. We were very pleased with our work at the end of the day and definitely intend to do more Lino printing. I did find rollering the ink on newspaper rather tricky though as the newspaper tended to keep lifting with the roller. If I did another course I’d bring something else to roller the ink onto. All in all a very enjoyable day! Thank you very much Alison and Liz."

Blooming Designs - Art in the Barn responded:

"Hi Gill and Steve, Good to hear from you - it’s lovely to hear about your time in the barn and it was great working with you both. Lino is a lovely process, with lots of new techniques to explore, including printing methods that suit you and your facilities. Get a few single colour prints under your belt and we may see you Spring 2023 for a reduction printing workshop. Happy printing Best wishes Alison & Liz"

Bill Bennett reviewed: Woodturning Experience Days - Come and spend a day turning your first bowl

"Great day of one to one training, everything that was discussed and demonstrated was tailored to meet my needs and ability. Stephen was the perfect tutor, made me very welcome and at ease from the moment I arrived to the final departure. A most rewarding day with not only being taught the beginnings of a long learning curve to becoming a competent wood turner but to enjoy the company and experiences of Stephen. I would 100% endorse this course experience."

Bodden Cross Studio responded:

"A great pleasure Bill and I really appreciated your observation "I would classify that as the best day of training that I have had." Please stay in touch and let me know if you have any further questions. Thank you"

"What a wonderful day my sister and I spent with Nina at her silversmith workshop. She is a fabulous, relaxed teacher, welcoming and easy going. learning was made so easy with great explanations, guidance and hands on approach. Plus the tea & coffee flowed and the biscuits were lovely. We were guided though the whole process with enough information for each part of the process, We never felt overwhelmed with info. The day flew by and at the end we had 2 beautiful rings each to bring home, we were so made up we had actually made them ourselves. I haven't enjoyed a day out so much for quite a while. I can't recommend Nina enough and we will be booking with her again soon. Brilliant day. thank you & well done"

Katherine reviewed: Basic electrical course - part 1

"Unfortunately this course was very disappointing as there was no practical element to it at all. We sat in front of a whiteboard for 3 hours without a break. I had expected to have some hands on activities but when I queried this David told me that would happen if I booked on the second electrical course. I definitely wouldn’t recommend if you just want to learn some basic skills and I won’t be booking on any further courses."

John Maloney reviewed: 3 Day Damascus Knife or Axe Making Class

"Wow! Thoroughly enjoyed this course. The tutors were knowledgeable skilled and attentive to the needs and various levels of experience of their customers. Gary and Jos are obviously skilled artisans and their patience and skill base lend themselves to a very enjoying and fulfilling experience. What needs to be said, it’s super fun realising a dream. Hot metal, hammers noise and something tangible to take away. If you don’t take the opportunity to do something like this then you will regret it for ever. It’s an experience I will treasure. Keep it up guys. Happy bunnies are miserable compared to doing this!"
