Dorothy Wrigley reviewed: Introduction to traditional Calligraphy - foundational hand

"After attending Sunita’s Excellent Modern Calligraphy course some months ago I decided to give Traditional Calligraphy a try yesterday. I was not disappointed. Sunita is an excellent tutor starting the day by allowing us to introduce ourselves and explore what we wanted to get out of the day. The day continued with tutorials interspersed with practice sessions during which Sunita moved amongst us helping and advising. We were all engrossed and the time just flew by. Thank you so much. I had a great day"

"We had a brilliant day with Bob and Joe, they made us feel very welcome and made our tree planter creations so much better with all their knowledge and advice. The workshop was great to work in with a constant window of activity outside with the bird feeders. A must if you would like to have a go with Pal Tiya a clay like medium with clever hardening properties. I will be booking to have another go. Thank you"

Lea reviewed: Enamelling Taster Session

"Melissa provided a welcoming and very engaging environment for us to explore enamelling. I felt very supported to experiment with the materials while still keeping everything safe and hassle free. She provided all the materials and set the room up so that we could easily follow the directions. The general atmosphere was so great and I really enjoyed chatting to everyone there."

"I thoroughly enjoyed my taster session with Melissa! She provided all the materials and had samples out to demonstrate how to enamel. She took us through each stage step by step and gave us great tips along the way. Having had no previous experience of enamelling whatsoever, I came away feeling inspired and knowledgeable about the process! Would highly recommend! ?"

Hannah reviewed: 1 Day Fused Glass for beginners workshop at The Silver Zebra studio Cheshire - Est 2004

"Myself and my friend took the one day introduction to fused glass workshop and it was brilliant! Considering we both were complete beginners and had no idea how much work goes into using glass as a medium, Deborah was very patient with us and very helpful in guiding us to what we hoped to achieve. Deborah is lovely and really knows her stuff. Lunch provided was also exceedingly delicious. I'm a little sad that I only managed to take the one day course as I enjoyed it so much so, that it would have been nice to be creative for a couple more days! I can't wait to see the final version of what me and the other group members have created."

Pippa Clegg reviewed: Weaving: the journey begins

"My daughter and I had a lovely day with Ashleigh learning how to weave on a four shaft table loom and a heddle loom. Ashleigh patiently took us through the basics and advised on colour combinations and then we were off! We had a great day exploring different patterns and colour combinations with Ashleigh keeping an unobtrusive eye on us, ready to intervene if things were getting tricky but otherwise allowing us to try things out. We had a lunch break at the Cateran Cafe (part of the cost of the day) and then back for more experiments. Ashleigh is an excellent tutor and we both came away with pieces of work we felt proud of and delighted with."

Tina Anderson reviewed: "Sparkle & Shine": beginner mosaic workshops with Joss Hughes, Peacock Mosaics

"A fantastic experience and the perfect gift for my mother-in-law's birthday, when the two of us joined Joss for a morning of mosaic making as complete beginners. Joss is a careful and patient teacher, has a wonderful eye for design and a great range of resources to dip into. She is flexible whether you come with no ideas, or have a clear idea of colour an design that can be adapted to the time and materials available; whether you want your design to be symmetrical or asymmetrical - it's all absolutely fine because the piece of work you produce is unique and yours alone. Highly, highly recommended."

Peacock Mosaics responded:

"Hi Tina, what a lovely review: thank you! I was very impressed by the variety of mosaics created in only a few hours. It really is a medium that is flexible for everyone. Can’t wait to see yours finished with the little shells added: it will complement your bathroom very well. Joss"

Trupti reviewed: Enamelling Taster Session

"Melissa’s workshop was my first experience of enamelling and so I wasn’t sure what to expect. She was very organised, clear, patient and thoughtful in how she explained what I needed to do and how to get great results having plenty of examples to look at. It was a fantastic workshop and I really enjoyed myself and look forward to learning more."

Jayne Towndrow reviewed: Make a notebook including making the paper.

"I did this workshop on 7 March. I happened to know a bit about papermaking already but you don't need to know anything. V taught me new skills - skills I had been dreaming of for a while. I loved making the sheets. The thing I valued the most was that I was able to achieve what I envisaged when asked what colours and design I was looking for. Not all teachers can help you to do that. I had wondered how we would make sheets and make them into a notebook in a single day but this became clear and I did, indeed, go home with a notebook I had made entirely from 'rubbish' (my word not V's) that had been posted through V's front door. I love the whole process of papermaking, the pulp, the water, the eco-friendliness of it all and I will be able to use my new skills at home. It was a pleasure to meet new people; it was a tiny workshop with only one other participant. There was supposed to be a third but they didn't attend so really missed out. It was excellent value with food included on the price. And the food! Delicious. Well done Croughton Tea Rooms."

Grace reviewed: Cuttlefish casting in pewter

"Really enjoyable morning. Katy explains things so well, we all had a good result to take home. Could have done a whole day as you learn so much with the first casting it would have been good to have had another go. Venue is lovely if a little bit out the way and the cake is just scrumptious. I look forward to a return visit to do some silversmithing. Thank you Katy."

Katy Luxton Jewellery responded:

"Thank you Grace, I am so glad you enjoyed it! See you again soon Katy"

Kirk Goodman reviewed: Lampwork glass bead tuition

"I had a great time on this course learning about the basics of lamp work. Jo is a friendly instructor, with good depth of knowledge about her art. After a short safety talk and demonstration I was put straight into making beads. I also got to have a go at spotting and stringer techniques. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone interested in glass art."

Hester and Mike Henebury reviewed: Stone carving for beginners - Weymouth

"A brilliant day at Sculpture by the Lakes with John Davey, 'having a go' at stone carving for the first time. John was an excellent tutor - very patient, very skilled and knowledgeable. He explained things in simple terms and was incredibly encouraging. We both had a wonderful day and left with our own personal creations, which was most satisfying."

Sculptor John Davey responded:

"The pleasure was all mine Hester, Mike. You both carved some fantastic sculptures. I really enjoy seeing new sculptors discover the craft of stone carving. Passing on my love of stone."

Jane Hornsby reviewed: Silver Fidget Ring Workshop

"A thoroughly enjoyable day.. Fantastic surroundings Brilliant teacher. Helen worked us through each stage of the Twiddle Ring.. slowly and patiently. Often when you do craft courses the last half hour can be very rushed. Not this one. Timed to perfection. End product was beautiful. Highly recommended. I’m sure I’ll return for another workshop... when I’ve saved up?"
