Helen Hall reviewed: Stained Glass 8 week course Wednesday Mornings

"This course is excellent. I have done a few of Sharon’s courses and have enjoyed each one thoroughly. Sharon is a great teacher and makes sure each student gets the most out of the course. The atmosphere is intimate, relaxed, and fun (and there were always drinks and biscuits on offer!). I’m so pleased with the panels and other pieces I made during the sessions and I’ve learned so much. I can’t wait start my next piece at home, independently. I also hope to attend another course some time in the future as they are so enjoyable and informative."

Manchester Stained Glass responded:

"Helen, thank you for leaving such a kind review :) Your geometric stained glass designs and colour sense are fabulous. I am so pleased you will be continuing independently, and of course just get in touch if you need any advice or just to chat over creative ideas. And you would be most welcome back to future workshops. All the best Sharon x"

Mariza Pinkham reviewed: Hare Sculpture workshop with Jo Garden Art in beautiful Norfolk/Suffolk

"What an excellent course! I'm hooked! I had a thoroughly enjoyable day learning the basics of the craft. Jo skilfully demonstrated the whole process from beginning to end before we started and, throughout, gave encouraging tuition knowledge and artistic skills in a gentle manner. The facilities are great, and it's a lovely relaxed environment in which to learn a new skill. Ample refreshment was provided throughout the day. I highly recommend Jo's sculpting course and I'm very keen to return!"

Jo Garden Art responded:

Tim and Charli reviewed: Training course in upcycling with pallets. An introduction to making furniture with pallets for beginners

"My wife and I attended the course recently and loved it! Scott talked us through how to source pallets as well as tips on picking the right kind and avoiding the wrong ones. He showed us the techniques to break down pallets into usable wood without destroying it as well as different tools that could be used in the process. After a chat and tea we were shown how to construct a simple toolbox/carry case then, after a safety prep talk, let loose in the workshop with Scott and his partner helping an guiding us along the way. By the end of the day I had a sturdy tool box for my bits and bobs. My wife (who decided to go in a different direction) had a lovely side table waiting to be painted, varnished and installed at home. Would definitely recommend this course. Scott and his partner are lovely and were great coaches. We're now planning on what were going to do next, as soon as we get some more pallets!"

Black Paw upcycle project responded:

"Hi Tim & Charli Thank you for a great review and I'm so happy you enjoyed the course. all you need to do now is start collecting pallet and making amazing things. have fun Scott"

Nick reviewed: Creating a Viking knife an introduction to forging and knife making at Bearded Pig Forge

"Had a fantastic day making a Viking knife. Spike is a great teacher, gave good clear instructions and was always supportive and helpful when needed. Spikes clear safety instructions and technical demonstrations made it simple enough for even myself to make a decent knife without injury. Thinking of doing a two day course now as I had so much fun. This maybe the start of a new hobby."

John Willcox reviewed: Woodturning in Devon with Colin Simpson

"What a fun day ! With no experience and little knowledge Colin was a fantastic teacher who immediately put you at ease with his relaxed style and great hospitality. The teaching was at a brilliant pace with patience and care which not only covered the techniques of woodturning but also stance and posture to establish good habits from the outset. To then come away with two pieces of finished work was truly exciting. All this with a great sense of humour made the day fly past in an instant so thank you Colin for a wonderful experience ??"

Devon Wood Crafts responded:

"Thank you John for this great review. I also enjoyed the day and your company. I am delighted that you enjoyed the day and, if I can help in the future, please do not hesitate to get in touch. Enjoy you turning. Colin"

Jennie Merriman reviewed: Birds on a wire - creating small sculptures in Derbyshire

"Thanks very much for the workshop on Saturday, I really enjoyed it. The day was very easy going without any pressure, yet we managed to produce three quality finished pieces which I now have hanging in my kitchen. It was good to have you working alongside us so you kept the chat going and were always there to help with problems and questions. An easy start to the day, coffee and a brief catch-up between the three of us followed by lots of chat, drinks and biscuits, yet it was easy to opt out when I needed to concentrate on the work at hand. A very good working pace which we were a part of setting. Excellent handouts to use after the weekend to construct new pieces and good product advice and contacts. It was just what I needed to get back into the process of working again in a supportive atmosphere. Sorry but I can’t think of anything that would have made the day any better for me. You are obviously a very experienced teacher and passed on your enthusiasm and enjoyment of the work. A super day"

Liz Wellby - Artist, Teacher & Maker responded:

"Hi Jennie, Thank you for telling me about your experience at The Slipper Studio; it was lovely working with you again and I’m really pleased that you found the day a supportive experience. I think there’s lots of potential for wire work to be be incorporated into your creative practice, so I look forward to see where it may take you. Very best wishes and happy making. Liz"

Rosalyn reviewed: Beginners DIY and Home Maintenance day course

"What a great day! I learnt so much in a very friendly, relaxed atmosphere. David was a great teacher. So many handy hints packed into one day. Despite having dabbled in DIY for many years I learnt loads of new stuff. It was quite an intensive day. My only criticism would be it could be an hour longer and then it wouldn't feel like there was a rush to fit everything in by 4pm. I would definitely look at coming on another of your courses."

Shane Taylor reviewed: Introduction to leaded stained glass

"We had a wonderful day. My wife and I made 2 lovely pieces with Gen giving fantastic instruction and guidance. It was a craft we've never had a go at before and while some aspects were challenging, particularly putting it together like a jigsaw, it was wonderful to have the result that came from it. We can't wait to have a go ourselves and maybe even book another course with Gen. Thank you."

Wicked Gen Crafts responded:

"I had a really fun day teaching you the multiple techniques that go into making a leaded stained glass panel. It certainly makes you appreciate all the old medieval church windows made without the tools and PPE that we take for granted now! I look forward to seeing you both again for another fun and creative workshop."
