Traditional lampshades just got funky!

Learn the craft of traditional soft lampshade making but with a contemporary twist! Make a 10" diameter bowed empire or scallop shade cover using machine and hand stitching techniques with modern fabrics and trimmings.

The course lasts 6 hours and you will select trims from a wide range of braiding to finish the look of your lampshade and make the colours 'pop'.
You may wish to use your own left over furnishing fabric adding individual style to your room or create a fun look with contrasting colours.

Cannot make it to me? For a minimum of 2 people I am happy to travel to you for a workshop in your own home within a 10 mile radius (mileage in excess of this would incur travel expenses).

I am a part-time secondary school teacher, teaching ages 11-18 in crafts with 15 years experience and have a degree in 3D Design (woods, metals, plastics) and lifetime experience of working with fabrics in dressmaking and soft furnishings. The course is relaxed so you can work at your own pace with plenty of friendly support and guidance.

Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.

What's included in the price?

Endless tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits are available plus a 10 inch diameter lampshade frame with fabric, thread and use of my tools and embellishments like braiding.

Additional kits are an extra cost. Please bring your own packed lunch.
