Abstract Textured Felt Lampshades at Dolphin House

Create a sophisticated abstract textured Felt Lampshade - a great opportunity to create a unique piece of home decor to complement your home and learn two new skills - Feltmaking and Lampshade making! Day One: Working with merino wool, yarns and a selection of fibres you will design and make a piece of felt fabric. Learning how to lay the wool and other fibres you will then apply wet felting techniques to bond the fibres together. At the end of this first session you will have a piece of flat fabric ready to make your bespoke lampshade. Day Two: Using the felt fabric prepared in the first session you will make your lampshade. Learning how to cut your felt fabric to size, adhere a fire resistant backing and shade rings, to construct your lampshade. This session will give you a basic understanding of how to make a drum lampshade, equipped with these new skills, you can apply this knowledge to future projects with confidence. We will make 30cm diameter drum lampshades which you can choose to use as table or ceiling lampshades.
