The classes are relaxed and Sarah is a very patient and an excellent teacher who explains techniques in different ways so that you can progress ie verbal, notes, photographs.
I chose the 5 day course as I had 4 dining chairs which needed reupholstering. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and met some lovely people.

Really excellent workshop. Sarah is very knowledgeable and patient and guides you carefully through your project with full consideration of safety, both while you are working and in terms of the fire safety etc of the finished item. Upholstery is very creative (in terms of the output) but there is some serious hard work involved, at least on my restoration of antique pieces. Classes are small so there is a lot of individual attention and tailored support, plus lots of tea and coffee!

What an excellent day I have just had with Sarah. I am a complete novice and Sarah has been so patient, and kind, her immense knowledge, calm and clear explanations and instructions, as well as her positive and sunny manner have helped me to achieve an immense amount on my first foray into the complex world of upholstery. I have so enjoyed it and will certainly be returning for more.

What an excellent course!! I loved everything about it!
Sarah greeted me with a big smile and was so welcoming when I went yesterday. She has a lovely friendly working atmosphere in her workroom and it is a small class so everyone gets lots of expert help from Sarah. She is a great teacher, so clear with her instructions and so positive about your work. Just be warned, you will definitely want to go back and book more days!! I will be....

Sarah is a brilliant teacher - I learned a huge amount and made great progress with my project. It was so interesting too to see the other projects that people were working on, and pick up useful tips about other kinds of task.

The setting is lovely and the cake excellent too.

I would highly recommend this course to anyone that wants to have a go at upholstery, whether it be for a home project or to see if it is a hobby or career you may want to pursue. Sarah has a wealth of knowledge in upholstery and interiors, and as she limits the size of the groups to 6 people, it means she also dedicates a lot of time to each individual in the group. There is no pressure to keep up with others, and although there is a lot of information to take in during the day, I found the course very relaxing and enjoyable, and will certainly be booking on to another course in the future.

Excellent! Everything I had hoped for and much more. As advertised, the BYO project course was perfect for me as a beginner –
• Plenty of skilled, safety-conscious & supportive - individual attention,
• No pressure to keep up with others learning the same new skill and,
• An inspiring context in which look & listen to others seeking guidance for much more advanced projects.

Thank you Sarah (& three other participants) for all the mugs of tea and buckets of inspiration – altogether a 'Grand Day Out!'

Sarah was great to work with. Every step was explained carefully and I feel I acquired plenty of knowledge to work on my own.
It was also lovely to meet new people after the resent lock down in an extremely friendly atmosphere.
Thoroughly enjoy and highly recommend particularly the afternoon cake.

I completed a day course with Sarah for my first ever upholstery project. She is brilliant at explaining and demonstrating techniques and I found the day really interactive, productive and fun. I learned so much in one day! I now have the confidence to complete my current project and start another using the tools and techniques she has showed me. I can't recommend her enough!

I had a fabulous day on this course and Sarah was extremely patient, kind, knowledgeable and I would love the opportunity to do another course. Great setting, and I highly recommend this to anyone who fancies learning about upholstery. I did the course with 2 friends, which added to the enjoyment of the day.

All COVID-19 social distancing was maintained without affecting any part of the learning - thank you Sarah for a great day.

A very enjoyable upholstery Taster Day with Sarah, she is a knowledgeable and patient teacher. I had an introduction into reupholstering an overstuffed chair in the traditional method. Sarah explained the processes very clearly and provided sanitised equipment along with mask and gloves. We each had our own designated work area to allow social distancing. I felt confident and secure with the way Sarah managed our welfare regarding Covid thoughout the day.

Sarah has given me the confidence to have a go at continuing this project at home, although I'm sure I'll be needing more expert tuition along the way. Highly recommended. Thank you Sarah.

Fantastic day with Sarah, she's a great teacher, very patient and is very knowledgeable. The chair project I worked on was able to be completed on the day, and I have since put what I learnt to the test and completed more chairs at home.
Sarah is also being very aware of the current situation with Covid 19, and ensured that social distancing was maintained, gloves and masks were used and things were sanitised after use - both tools and toilets - which was really reassuring.

Thanks so much Sarah - I hope to be back soon!

Thanks very much for a great day, I really enjoyed learning new skills from Sarah, a very good, patient and knowledgeable tutor. The room was well laid out with all the correct social distancing precautions in place and the tools were all on the tables and easily to hand. During the day I managed to get quite a way through upholstering my antique chair, and with the knowledge gained I have now completed it.

Thank you, Thank you - Sarah you are an amazing teacher!!!

As you know I was a little nervous about taking my chair apart, the transformation is brilliant and so professional. My husband loves it and he’s the only one allowed to sit in it.

This is the second time I’ve booked a course with Sarah and I can’t recommend her classes enough. She explains the processes to suit your learning style. I’ve been on a number of courses, this is the only one where I’m leaving with the confidence to embark on a upholstery project at home. The training room is a great learning space equipped with everything you need.

Sarah provides refreshments throughout the day and a lovely lunch.

If you’re looking to learn upholstery, Sarah’s your girl!!!

I have just completed a 5 day upholstery course with Sarah. I was apprehensive as my skill level was non existent. However Sarah is an excellent teacher and soon builds up your skills and gives you the confidence to work on your chair.
Sarah is great at keeping you fuelled with biscuits, drinks and lunch. Her groups are friendly and small enough to learn and watch others completing many different projects. A great experience - thank you.

An amazing course and cannot recommend it enough! I went along for a one day taster session with a telephone table seat pad to cover.

Sarah is both very knowledgable & a super teacher. She has the knack of clearly explaining & demonstrating every little step but then ensures the participant actually does the work. I finished the day with a really professionally covered seat pad that has freshened up a classic piece of furniture wonderfully. Class sizes are super small and Sarah is always there to help when needed.

I learned loads!! After the course I’ve been able to independently complete a couple of similar projects. I’m now addicted and will be back for the 5 day course with a bigger project!!

Additionally..... the setting is lovely: a beautiful farm house that’s immaculately furnished. Lunch was a delight.... not just the food but the company. Most definitely a highly recommended day!

I went along for a Saturday course, the class was small and there were only 3 of us, Sarah's max is 4 so she has plenty of time to help each person. Sarah is very welcoming and warm and is a fab teacher.
She is a very skilled lady and it was a pleasure to learn from the best. I am now looking forward to returning one Saturday to start on a new project.

I have never done any upholstery before. I went with my daughter on the 9th Feb she bought the course for me as a gift. I so loved it. Sarah is patient, extremely knowleadgable and funny, and encourages you. I had no idea upholstery was so involved. I was very happy with the result of my endeavours and am booking a second session. Thank you Sarah.

Better than any spa day! Such a relaxing and productive use of time to de-stress, be creative, and physically transform something tired and battered into a beautiful creation. Sarah is patient, clear, funny, a very good teacher who advises but ultimately steps back and lets you create what you want and learn from her expertise. I've booked to go again! Can't wait!

This was my first experience of upholstery and I had a fabulous day learning how to reupholster a chair. Sarah is a wonderful teacher, giving clear, easy to follow instructions. With only 3 people in the class Sarah was able to give individual help. Tea, coffee and biscuits were provided throughout the day and Sarah gave us a delicious lunch too, which gave us time to chat. I would highly recommend this course...it has inspired me to learn more about this craft.

Along with other reviews I have read, Sarah was an excellent tutor of her craft. I thoroughly enjoyed my upholstery session on Saturday. Training environment is perfect and it was good that the class was small allowing plenty of time to explain. Lunch was another another perk allowing time to get to know others on the course. I would recommend this training to anyone think of this as a career or as a relaxing one off session.

It is a pleasure to work alongside and learn from Sarah. She is extremely knowledgable and shares her skills and experiences of upholstery generously. Sarah’s calm and friendly disposition, combined with clear explanations, make her a fantastic teacher.

The, well equipped, workshop is both practical and comfortable - an ideal space for Sarah’s personalised small group tuition.

I initially booked a five week upholstery course intending to develop a new skill however, I enjoyed my time so much that I am now persuing a diploma.

I highly recommend Sarah and her well informed tuition.

You are made to feel very welcome and the whole day just flys by. An added delight are the excellent cakes and lunches provided by Sarah - delicious. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable and highly productive day which I would definitely recommend.

This was an excellent course, from booking through to waving goodbye as I proudly left with my almost-completed chair. I had never done any upholstery before and was naturally a little unsure of what I was letting myself in for, but Sarah was very clear and reassuring when I contacted her in advance and the day itself exceeded my expectations. She has the ideal qualities for teaching: she seriously knows her stuff and has what seems to be unlimited patience and a calm, unhurried manner. With only 3 in the class there was plenty of time for detailed instruction and help. My 1930s chair is totally transformed - now I just need to give the other 3 in the set the same treatment!

This was our twelfth course through Craft Courses.com and we were not disappointed. A very good day, and from our experience a top tier course. The tuition is excellent and the safety briefing at the start was probably the best we have experienced (we like to come back from our courses with all body parts intact, as we are often using tools we haven't used before). We were able to finish our chair / stool in the day, and that is a sign of a good tutor who takes you through steps in a smoothly. You are definitely doing the tasks yourself, so its all your own work but help is at hand when you get stuck or doing the more twiddly bits. We often find that each craft has its own language and tools that were carefully explained. This time the magnetic tack hammer was our favourite. Catering and lunch in particular was excellent.

I chose to do a day course with Sarah as she is registered with the AMUSF and having recently completed the AMUSF Diploma myself, I recognised the level of proficiency required by Sarah to be accredited with them.

I went with the specific aim to practice traditional upholstery techniques and found her to be informative, attentive and highly professional.

I enjoyed the experience so much I then booked and completed a traditional lampshade making course with her and would not hesitate in attending another course.

Thanks so much.

i cannot recommend Sarah & her courses highly enough. Sarah is a patient and nurturing teacher. I was very nervous as I had no knowledge of upholstery.

I was so pleased with the results and never thought I could produce a chair and footstool with such a professional finish.

Sarah’s knowledge and ability to instruct in a way you can understand is excellent. I’ve learnt so much and have booked my 3rd course in August.

Look forward to seeing you in the summer to make ‘coir clouds’, Jx

After spending two days with Sarah on her traditional lampshade making course, I was inspired to learn the art of upholstery. I have completed a number of 5 week courses since July 2017. I feel that I am now ready to embark on a career in upholstery. I have loved my time at the farm in Sarah’s training room and her lunches are fabulous. I will be returning to Sarah for further expert tuition as my business progresses. Many thanks as always.
