George T reviewed: Two Day Hand Spinning Workshop in Norfolk

"An excellent weekend, with wonderful instruction from Theresa, who was very encouraging and used a number of ways to instruct us. A real treat to meet the sheep producing the fleece and then to process from start to finish with a skein of yarn. Can highly recommend, and great company plus catering to boot. Thank you"

The Spinning Barn responded:

"Thank you so much for reviewing the workshop George. I know you made a great effort to attend so I am really pleased that you enjoyed it. I cant wait to see one of your knitted masterpieces created from your own yarn. And please keep in touch so i can see how you are getting on. Theresa &James"

Anna Davenport reviewed: Glass fusing class - powders and enamels

"I've already recommended this course to more friends today, because it was fantastic! I went with three of my girl friends on Saturday to do a beginners glass fusing day with Sarah. Sarah showed us lots of different techniques in the morning and we had plenty of time to play and ask questions about the process. In the afternoon, we were able to use our new found skills to create four coasters or a larger piece to fit inside a frame. I always enjoy learning from someone with a professional attitude and I wasn't disappointed. Sarah is a great teacher and a highly skilled glass artist. The class was interesting, inspiring, fun and all four of us learnt so much and are keen to go back to try another one of Sarah's courses. I'd thoroughly recommend this course to anyone who's keen to learn glass fusing!"

All in all, a good mix of instruction and opportunity to be creative in a very pleasant environment."

Rachel Shaw reviewed: Natural (cold process) soap making workshop with afternoon tea

"I attended the cold process soap course (March 2020) and it was great. Once we'd got over the unfounded fear of chemistry we had a creative afternoon making up a couple of batches of soap. The pace of the course was good- relaxed but no time wasted. I enjoyed the midday break for afternoon tea, lovely. All in all a very pleasant way to spend 4 hours. Julie's teaching was excellent and she imparted so much knowledge I now feel confident enough to have a go at home. We shared out the soaps made by us, so all ended up with about 9 bars each to take home."

Nigel Luckett reviewed: Drawing classes. Bringing drama and life with charcoal- all levels welcome!

"It was only by a very lucky chance that I signed up for Sarah's course for beginners. I had never thought that I remotely possessed any form of artistic skills and being pretty late in life, what was the point in trying? The course has been a revelation to me. Not only have I learnt skills that appear to have been dormant for the best part of a century (!!) but the course is so relaxing in a totally different way. All participants are so enthusiastic one can hardly hear a pin drop when they are concentrating on their pieces! Everyone seems to be thoroughly enjoying the experience, as am I. Well done Sarah, an inspiration."

Sarah Stokes responded:

"Ah thank you Nigel. What a wonderful review. Both your charcoal piece and watercolour work has been fantastic. You’ve taken to it, like a duck to water. So glad you joined! Thank you again for the lovely words and see you very soon! ?"

"I really enjoyed the course thank you. My feedback would be that I felt squashed in the room. I would have liked a bit more space to move. I hope that the new room is bigger. I would prefer to browse in the shop at the end of the course. That way you can buy things and go home. Thank you."

Katie Banks reviewed: Beginners’ Stained Glass, One Day Course, Llandeilo, Wales - archive

"This 1 day course is a great way to get your creativity flowing. We had a fantastic time designing, cutting and leading up our glass and Simon is such a welcoming and friendly host (he even provides endless cups of tea and delicious biscuits). If you’re looking for a ‘me’ day, this course is perfect. It offers a balance between creative therapy and thoroughly informed glass education - Simon is an expert in his field and has many inspirational pieces hanging in his studio to make you all envious. I want to thank Simon especially for offering up more time than he should have in the evening to ensure that everyone left having finished their light catchers. We are beyond grateful. I wish I could afford to do this every single weekend and look forward to picking up my finished piece."

Simon Howard Glass responded:

"Thank you so much Katie. That’s such a lovely thing to say. It was a real pleasure having you both here for the day; and your pieces look fantastic!"

Cris Lund reviewed: Lucy Churchill's Stone Carving Workshops

"Very informative and as there was only Jason and Nick with me you have your own private tutor on tap helping you all the way.It was a privilege to be taught by someone so skilled who could adapt/translate to a beginners group. We all got on so well and it was very relaxed and I will miss them all. Lucy also provided us with bistro type lunches and lots of cake & drinks and of course her warm hospitality. Would definitely recommend it and I would love to see Nick & Jason again at another carving lesson. Thank you Lucy"
