Lauren A reviewed: Beginner Group Painting Class: Paint Your Own Photo

"Expect something totally different to any art class you've been before. The whole experience from beginning to end has been meticulously thought out to ensure you have the most relaxing and beneficial time. It's the first time I have experienced meditation and art working together, which worked so harmoniously with the space. Little touches like the cheese & honey with figs, the prosecco and the mini projectors make this a unique experience – and of course the teachers and team behind it add all the encouragement to let yourself go and enjoy the process. Thank you to all involved!"

Reka Mehmood reviewed: Quilt in a Day, one-to-one course with Amanda Jane Ogden

"Amanda Jane is a real quilt guru! She was warm and welcoming and extremely accomodating in her approach, quickly assessing the level she needed to pitch the course at, giving me great value for the course with it being completely tailored to my level of skill. She even got goodies for the breaks accomodating my dietary restrictions. It was through and through a well thought out, awesome experience, which gave me the confidence to start on some bigger projects on my own. Well worth it!"

Amanda Jane Textiles responded:

"Thank you Reka for your generous review. It was a pleasure to teach you and I know this is just the start of your quilting adventures! I have sent you an email today with lots of follow-up information. Amanda"

"Masterpeace is a haven in the heart of stressful London. It creates a blissful atmosphere for you to explore your creativity no matter who you are. The team are inviting with positive energy. The food and drink delicious. But the art is the most unique because every piece is special, no matter at what level the hand that made it is at! Namaste ??"

Miles Tyzack reviewed: Woodturning in Devon with Colin Simpson

"My wife was able to book the course with Colin at short notice, as a surprise for my birthday whilst we were caravanning in Devon. Colin was very welcoming, and created a relaxed atmosphere over the first of many coffees and I explained that my knowledge was limited to having watched a few online videos and previously admiring other peoples creations at various craft fairs. Colin first outlined the agenda for the beginners course and then showed me the lathes which we were going to use for the day in his extensive workshop. I felt that Colin’s tutoring was pitched perfectly, and clearly down to his extensive knowledge and experience. At the end of the morning I really felt I had created my first masterpiece!! - with first class explanations and demonstration, with only limited intervention from Colin when required. The morning had flown by, so we stopped for an enjoyable light lunch before commencing the afternoon session on a contrasting more delicate item, with different skills and detail being explained and observed. On completion of this task, Colin then took time to show me how the tools are sharpened before answering my questions regarding what level of equipment would be suitable to embark on my new hobby. The extensive course notes with pictures and text which are provided as part of the package will be a very useful reminder and reference for the future. Full marks to my wife for booking the course, and 10/10 to Colin for a most informative, enjoyable and well presented introduction to woodturning - which I would recommend to anybody."

Devon Wood Crafts responded:

"Thank you for this review, Miles, it is much appreciated. Please get in touch if I can help in the future. Regards, Colin"

Christine B. reviewed: Introduction to Glass Fusing with Enamels - Full Day Workshop

"Best Birthday Treat As a complete novice to fused glass, I found Steve to be a very patient, encouraging tutor and nothing was too much trouble. I enjoyed every moment of the day from start to finish! I booked a one day workshop as my recent 60th Birthday treat. When I arrived, Steve was very welcoming and explained health & safety, and how the day would run. He then gave an interesting explanation of the different types of glass fusing, how it is achieved and with numerous examples for inspiration. We would be using enamel powders to create the designs either in a transparent or opaque finish. Steve then demonstrated how to apply the powders in creating a tea light panel, before I had a go at making my own as a practice piece in preparation for my larger wall panel. An included Sunday lunch at the local pub followed and I have to say was superb! Later, I was helped by Steve to draw out and cut stencils for my wall panel design. He cut out some shapes in glass to add layers of interest. In-between colouring my main panel, I was encouraged to experiment with designs on more tea light panels. The finished pieces all went in the kiln overnight. Collecting them the next day, I was delighted with the results. Steve also let me take home his demo piece, so I came away with 4 smaller artworks as well as my main one. A really wonderful day and experience that I will never forget. I can't wait to do another workshop with Steve. Maybe to mark my 61st birthday!"

Emma M reviewed: Natural soap and skincare workshop

"As soon as I walked into the workshop at Boo Cottage I knew the day going to be good- we had an informative and interesting introduction from Nicola over hot drinks and a chat, then started creating our fragrant products which we took home at the end of the day. Nicola made the tuition and instruction easy to follow and fun. I took away bath truffles, body scrub, lip balms and soap and am so proud of having made all these products myself! The combination of scents from the oils and butters will stay with me for ages, SO therapeutic, a lovely days course. Thank you ?"

Martin Sykes reviewed: maltese limestone carving at mount pleasant gardens

"This was a brilliant weekend with Andrew. My decision to carve a dragon breaking out of an egg was definitely an ambitious goal for a first time stone carving but with Andrew's guidance something I am very proud to have achieved in the two days. At the end of Saturday the ache in my arm made me wonder how I would get through Sunday, but a simple change from the roughing work to the fine work with a different mallet made a big difference. The gardens are an additional bonus and well worth a walk around during a break."

Sam reviewed: Wax carving for complete beginners at Simply Amazing Jewellery School

"Session one was a great introduction to the craft. We started with some simple exercises to develop an understanding of how the wax would behave in different scenarios before moving on to crafting something to be cast. We were a really small group which allowed for great one on one interactions with Viv the instructor. We were allowed to use the time as we wanted and to build up an understanding of techniques that were valuable to us. I'm really looking forward to the second session to refine some of the skills from the first."

Simply Amazing Jewellery School responded:

"Hi Sam, thank you so much for this, we have so much more to cover but I hope by the time we finish, you will have enough information, confidence and skill to know how to create the projects you want to make! I really love working with wax, the challenges it presents show - this ancient art continues to have relevance in a modern environment!"

And oh my the soaps, bath truffles, bath balms and body scrub we all made...absolutely gorgeus! So...Nic when is the next one?"
