maltese limestone carving at mount pleasant gardens

X

Description

Two day Maltese limestone carving sculpture workshop. Courses are run throughout the year. The course is designed for beginners. We work in a relaxed atmosphere set in ten acres of landscaped gardens. On both days the workshop will start at 10am and finish at 4pm. The gardens are an RHS partner garden. The workshop is outside but under cover so suitable clothing and strong footwear is recommended. At the end of the weekend the sculptures can be taken home. We will be using a soft Maltese limestone which although relatively easy to carve is firm and gives good results. The blocks are approximately eleven inch cubes. It is helpful if you come along with an idea or source material in the form of a sketch, photograph or small model as a starting point for your sculpture although it is not necessary to have any definite ideas as these can develop and change throughout the weekend. Andrew Worthington who runs the courses is a professional sculptor and has been running the workshops for eleven years.
