This is a superb course. Helen is an outstanding tutor. She guides you through the weekend with experience and wit. The west riding stone carving association venue is great. And the members who were working alongside of us really friendly and helpful. Please do not hesitate to try this course, you will be so glad that you did. Enjoy.

Response from The West Riding Stonecarving Association:

Thank you very much for your outstanding review.
You were all all a pleasure to meet.

Helen taught us (4 complete beginners) from start to finish, to make our own, unique, Green Man - in just 2 days!
This course appealed to my interest in being able to make with my own hands and just a few simple tools.
Although I went with my sisters in law, I would have been completely happy going on my own. Helen and the other regulars in the workshop were really friendly and encouraging.
Lots of potential for further learning too. Brilliant.

Response from The West Riding Stonecarving Association:

Thank you Helen for your great review .I'm glad everyone enjoyed it 🙂

Helen is a superb patient tutor. I had never been before and she couldn't have been more welcoming. Myself, my wife and son each carved a daisy on a stone tablet for just £10 each. It really felt like an experience day and we couldn't have enjoyed it more.
Thank you and hope to see you again soon.

Response from The West Riding Stonecarving Association:

Thank you for your great feedback. 👍

A fantastic course! Helen is a very knowledgeable tutor and is always available to offer assistance to everyone. Student numbers meant everyone got the help they needed. Facilities were ideal and the workshop offers a great atmosphere.

I cannot fault this course at all. I loved every minute of it and look forward to booking another course to further the new skills I've learnt.

Excellent facility, plenty of space, very friendly atmosphere. Excellent tuition from Helen, there when you need her but equally plenty of space to do your own work. Very rewarding (and surprising) when you see the end result. Very enjoyable two days, day one is tiring, but day two less strenuous but transformational. Already been back for an additional course.

Response from The West Riding Stonecarving Association:

Thank you for your positive review. I am glad you both had a great time.

Easy to contact for any questions I had before the course. Course was well thought out and I achieved so much, from never having done anything with stone to an amazing piece. Tuition was calm, supportive, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. I recommend this course to everyone.

The Green Man course was brilliant. Everything on the course was excellently prepared. We got a lovely individual tool roll to use and our stone was marked out ready for us so we could get on carving. The demo's were great and there were lots of individual attention. The workshop was very clean, with a nice kitchen and toilets. The biscuits and fruit kept me going during the breaks. I had a little trouble finding the entrance (it's round the back of the main Mill and I drove right past it), so I would leave a little extra time to find it on the first day. I'm really proud of my green man - thank you for all your help!

Response from The West Riding Stonecarving Association:

Thank you for your wonderful feedback 😁

Colin P - - #21725

The Green Man course was one of the best courses I have ever done, and I was amazed at what I achieved in only 2 days.
Helen and John were both brilliant tutors.
The course was so good that I've now signed up onto the 8 week foundation course and fully expect to carry on with stone carving as a hobby going forward.
It's such a relaxing atmosphere and everyone is so very friendly and welcoming.

I am still waiting for a reply to my enquiry to book this course. I have had an email asking me to review the course but I haven’t been able to attend yet due to lack of communication back so far.

Response from The West Riding Stonecarving Association:

I have been in contact via email with this person and I have told them that I didn't receive a request for information and that I would like to apologise for the lack of communication .

Mr &Mrs Jim & Geraldine Towersey - - #21400

Obviously this is an automated request!

We emailed an enquiry about the course in December 2018 direct. We received an automated reply from yourselves, telling us the tutor’s would get in touch.

We did not here from anybody which we thought was a little we can not give you an opinion about the course, except we sacked it off in the end.

Response from The West Riding Stonecarving Association:

Hi I hope you received my apologies through your email in that I explained that I didn't receive your request for information. Please let me known if you are still interested in our course by telephone

Thank You. Helen

Thoroughly enjoyed this 2 day course. Was amazed that over the two days, with no previous experience, I progressed from having a block of stone in front of me to taking home a Green Man that I am proud to put in the garden.
Helen and John are excellent, patient tutors and the association overall is a friendly and welcoming place. Thanks for your support & advice, if I lived closer to Halifax I'd be back for your longer courses!

S Clarke - - #10760

Helen and John are excellent tutors. Thanks so much for helping to develop my skills and for being so friendly! The West Riding Stonecarving Association is a brilliant place. You've worked really hard to produce such a good workshop.
