I generally run my workshops on a Saturday just once a month, once restrictions are lifted, I shall be happy to run workshops on extra Saturdays to clear the backlog created from Lockdown.
Carving wax jewellery - this ancient art of creating solid precious or base metal jewellery is a perfect kitchen table industry. Suitable for working from home with hand tools and non-toxic materials. No soldering skills necessary. You can take this as far as you want to - from the organic and unique crafter to the professional - designing and creating jewellery with the latest technology.
You will learn about the most popular waxes, the different forms they come in and be introduced to some of the many ways of using, carving and creating with wax.
You will be encouraged to use a variety of methods to create a number of items for casting - seeing your work returned and transformed into solid metal is almost magical, the shape, size and detail all replicated into silver, gold, copper or bronze!
As it takes over a week for items to be sent, cast and returned, this short course will take place over several weeks. Dates to be arranged to suit - you may need to wait for others to join. Second date will be at least a fortnight later.
Build your confidence and develop new skills - take a look at 'See more from this Maker' link below details about the courses I run.
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
I have created a workshop that will take two days to complete, the items you make will need to be sent away for casting and on return, you will need to tidy up and polish your work.
We shall cover a lot of ground so I like to create a helpful handout you can refer to, make notes on and keep. I love the idea of kitchen industry and this ancient skill is absolutely ideal.
Only studio materials are included in the price.
Casting costs are variable, and you will be shown how to manage the cost of your item(s) as you work. You will need to cover these costs before items are sent for casting - use mobile banking or card
Light refreshments will be available and suitable for most to enjoy, however you may want to bring a packed lunch.
This venue has no steps and the car park is directly outside.

Excellent course, delivered by a teacher whose knowledge and enthusiasm shines through, as you learn through creating your own designs ready for casting. I thoroughly enjoyed the day and am now slightly obsessed with wax carving!
Throughly enjoyed the wax carving course, Viv was very knowledgable and created a lovely environment to work at your own pace on your own project. Would recommend the class to anyone who wanted to give wax carving a go.
