Wax Carving For Beginners

X

Description

The ancient art of lost wax casting was originally established as a metal working technique in the bronze age and has developed through millennia to this very specific manufacturing process. This beginners’ class looks to introduce students to this method of lost wax casting and using jewellers’ wax. This session allows you to experiment in the sculptural element of jewellery making and will introduce you to a completely alternate jewellery making technique. Get to grips with the unique nature of jewellers’ wax, learning how to manipulate it and experiment in sculpting and building in this very different medium. In this class you can create a ring or pendant, or a test/sample piece which will then be cast in silver or a bronze alloy and returned to you as a finished piece. With lots of inspiration to guide you, this short course is perfect for the jewellers looking to express their ideas in alternative ways, or for those beginning their jewellery journey to widen their understanding of general jewellery making.
