Mosaic wall hangings using vintage and retro china
Description
This one day course runs from 10am till 5pm during which time you will be taught by Wendy Dobbenie how to create a beautiful mosaic wall hanging made from recycled crockery. There are 3 basic shapes available: a square, circle or heart shape which all measure around 20cm width and height. Alternatively, crafters can choose to mosaic a shape of their choice. Students can choose to make a mosaic suitable for either indoor or outdoor display. You will be shown how to design your artwork, how to use the cutting tools safely and how to adhere the crockery to the substrate. A grouting demo will be given and you will be given a grouting kit to take home as ideally one should allow 24h for the adhesive to properly set before grouting. You are welcome to bring along any of your own chipped or broken crockery that you would like to incorporate in your work but plenty of crockery is provided on the day.
What's included in the price?
Included in the price is your base, lots of vintage and retro china to choose from, adhesive plus a grouting and hanging kit. There will also be free of charge tea, coffee and biscuits available, but no lunch. There is an excellent bistro next door or you are welcome to bring a packed lunch.

I learnt my mosaic skills at a local mosaic workshop. For several years, I enjoyed making mosaics as a hobby and to unwind from my teaching job. Four years ago, I made the decision to set up my own company and devote all my time to this fantastic art form.
