Lorraine reviewed: Stonecarving Weekend, Gloucestershire Cotswolds

"I enjoyed this course, being out in the air, the cameraderie and loved handling the stone. The stone isn't dense, so scultping is relatively easy and there is just enough time to finish a piece. Sebastian is welcoming and guides when you ask, otherwise, you're left to learn as you go - an explorative-type learning that worked for me. I have already recommended Sebastian's course to friends and family and would want to return another time to improve my skill level."

Dave Lewis reviewed: Mig Welding For Beginners Introductory Day Course.

"Outstanding One-on-One MIG Welding Course with Tony I recently completed a one-on-one MIG welding craft course with Tony, and I can confidently say it was an exceptional learning experience from start to finish. Tony’s teaching style is clear, patient, and incredibly knowledgeable, making even complex concepts easy to grasp for beginners and hobbyists alike. The course began with a solid foundation in welding theory and safety, including a thorough walkthrough of how to properly set up a MIG welder. Tony explained the differences between shielding gases (such as CO₂, Argon, and mixed gases), and how each affects weld quality and penetration. We also touched on other welding processes like TIG and Stick welding, which helped put MIG welding into a broader context. Once the basics were covered, we moved on to hands-on practice with various joint types. Tony guided me through welding lap joints, tee joints, and corner joints, offering real-time feedback and tips to improve technique, consistency, and control. Each session was tailored to my pace, and I appreciated how Tony emphasized both the technical and artistic aspects of welding. By the end of the course, I felt confident in my ability to set up and operate a MIG welder, understand the role of different gases and materials, and execute clean, strong welds on common joint types. Whether you're looking to start a career in welding or simply want to build your skills for personal projects, I highly recommend this course and Tony as an instructor."

Newport Wrought Ironwork responded:

"David thank you for your feedback it is really appreciated. I am very happy you enjoyed the course . It was your first time welding and you did extremely well. The improvement from the beginning of the lesson to the end was evidential in the welds that you produced. I hope you continue welding in the future and if I can help with any advice when you look to purchase your own equipment please feel free to contact me . Regards Tony "

Darryl Houghton reviewed: Beginners Pyrography Course

"I recently attended the course run by Tilia. She was very helpful and gave us a gentle introduction into Pyrography. During the course of six hours I completed three pieces, a small keyring, a coaster with an ammonite on it and a large piece with a woodpecker on it. The venue was incredible and really highlighted what could be done with wood. Tilia was an excellent tutor and had tons of patience while helping us create our art. She also worked on her own piece beside us. I highly recommend the course and if you have an interest in Pyrography this is the course to do "

June Willey reviewed: Willow Basket Weaving at Manor Wood

"My sister and I attended this course as a birthday treat and we traveled quite a long way to attend. I have mixed feelings about the day. The setting was fabulous I chose it because it was outside in a forest setting and that didn’t disappoint. Beautiful surroundings with a camp fire on constantly where the kettle was boiled for tea and coffee. The day was full on and although we both made quite a nice basket, it was not like the basket we set out to make, it was unfinished. It didn’t have a handle and wasn’t as tall as the example. I think Olinda was lovely and tried very hard to help us all but with 7 people making a basket and the majority of these were beginners her time was spread thinly. So when people required assistance this sometimes meant you had to wait for lengthy periods of time, in particular near the end of the day when the final border was required. I am still not sure how to do the border but I have some knowledge for further learning. I would still recommend this course you will make a basket you can take away and have some knowledge to progress. "

Manor Wood responded:

"Hi June, Thank you for your review, we really appreciate your feedback. We’re glad you enjoyed the woodland setting, and we’ve taken your comments on board to ensure we can offer more support in future sessions. Matt and Emma"

John Hutchinson reviewed: Oak stool making experience - rustic carpentry & green wood work

"The green woodworking course was a birthday present from my wife. I do have some DIY skills but haven't made anything "creative" with wood for a very long time. The plan for the day was to make three legged stool using old unmechanised skills, and that's exactly what we did. Ian is a brilliant and supportive teacher who enabled me to create a hand carved mallet (which works!), then a beautiful stool which I'm very proud of. I'd very much recommend the day to anyone who wants to learn some practical woodworking skills in a very "chilled" way. "

Beth reviewed: Picture Framing - Woodworking Basics

"This framing course was one of the best craft courses I have taken! Vas is such a great and patient teacher and talented woodworker and designer. The result of the course is one of my favorite products I have ever made in a course as the finished product is an incredibly high quality bespoke one of a kind frame! I was able to select the wood and also learned to consider the design of the frame and image, all of which was great! I learned so much and had a really enjoyable time. I couldn't recommend this course more! Also was great to understand woodworking tools and materials! 10/10!"

DEMOD Design Workshop responded:

"It was an absolute pleasure having you on my course, Beth! Your eagerness to learn and enthusiasm made the course a highly enjoyable experience for me, too. I hope you will apply your new skills to frame your amazing stained glass work!"

Belinda reviewed: 1 Day Bring Your Own Upholstery Project - Lewes

"I attended this course last weekend ( 21/9/2025). Even before I booked Lucy was approachable and gave lots of advice on how to improve my chair. This was a sentimental restore as it was something that my father had planned to reupholster. On the day of the workshop Lucy was welcoming and very soon put me at ease. The venue is light and airy and Lucy supplied all the tools needed for the day. I thoroughly recommend this workshop, you won’t be disappointed."

Roundedby responded:

"Ah Belinda that is such a lovely review - thank you! It was so good to have you at the workshop, I especially love traditionally stitched projects, so I was thrilled that you chose to work in that way. I think you did a brilliant job, and I think the pattern layout we decided upon is really going to 'sing'. Thanks again, Lucy !"
