About the Course
Learn to sew intensive course over two Saturdays
This is where you will learn the basics of how to use your sewing machine and start your sewing journey.
Week 1 am - learning the basics of how your machine works
Week 1 pm - Make a reversible tote bag with boxed bottom
Week 2 am - Make an envelope cushion with opening buttonhole and fabric covered buttons
Week 2 pm - Make zipped and lined pouches (toiletries bag or pencil case size)
All excellent quality fabrics are provided, and you will have written instructions plus a cushion template to keep for when you 'go it alone' at home.
If you are new to sewing, looking to take up a new hobby, or return to sewing, this is the course for you. Four individual 3hr workshops where you will get to know your machine, and learn how to make four individual items each covering a different skill.
You can bring your own machine if you have one, or if not I have one you can hire for a minimal charge.
This course is a combination of my beginners workshops which can also be booked separately.
I have over 35 years experience sewing, from learning to sew as a child making dolls clothes, progressing to dressmaking, home furnishings (curtains and blinds), accessories, always to professional standards. I design and make my own patterns, and work as a Freelance Tutor. I hope you will come along and enjoy my workshops, where I am happy to pass on lots of information and tips.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.

I've thoroughly enjoyed today. I have been ill for the past week and today has cheered me up! Although I have sewn for many years, I still learnt a lot. Looking forward to attending more courses.

Really enjoyed the whole day. Constructive, clear and supportive instruction. Creative crafts achieved. Judi is helpful and with a sense of humour. Nice venue and warm! Thanks :)
Fiona - - #26237
I am really suprised at how much I learnt during the day - it far exceeded my expectations. The pace was just right, as was the size of the class, and it allowed for plenty of one to one guidance.
Judith - - #26236
I really enjoyed both the workshops I attended at the weekend. The small groups are great as it gives us the opportunity to ask any questions we need to ask, and the opportunity for individual help where needed. You make things as simple as possible and give clear instructions, so at the end of the course I felt really pleased with what I had achieved.

A great beginners' course.
None of the projects was too ambitious but they were challenging enough to give a real sense of satisfaction when completed.
We had an experienced tutor who actually said very little but was always ready to assist us when guidance was needed.

Gave me the confidence and knowledge to start sewing again, as I had not sewn since school - 30 years plus! A thoroughly enjoyable and prodictive morning. Judi has inspired me to continue sewing!

Thank you for the amazing workshops you have provided the last couple of weeks; I am thrilled with all that I have made under your guidance and patience, and it has given me the confidence to try other projects on my own.

Had a great day with Judi Glover on her learn to sew and made a fantastic envelope cushion cover, a drawer string bag and drinks coasters, all of which we were able to take home. I had never used my sewing machine and by the end of the day felt completely comfortable with it. I was with a lovely group of ladies and Judi couldn’t have been nicer, so patient and informative. I have already booked my next course, curtain making next!

I recently attended the beginners workshop, had a great time and was useful to finally be able to use my sewing machines. Judi was both helpful and patient as i was an absolute beginner. The tote bag and coasters were an added bonus to have something to take home upon completion.

Thank you for doing a 1 to 1 session for me. I had not used a sewing machine in such a long time and you were very patient. I really enjoyed it and the 3 hours went very quickly. Will be coming back for the cushion workshop. Highly recommend
