Anon reviewed: Ploughing with heavy horses - a two day course

"I enjoyed both days immensley. It was a privalage to be able to work with the horses and Simon and Jak. I felt we were not rushed at all, but they are both so knowledgeable - I could have listened to them talking about horses forever! We were so lucky to have good weather but I would have done it in the rain any way! They clearly have such a bond with all their animals who are very loved and well looked after. I liked how they stood back after showing us what to do and let us get really stuck in, but were always on hand to provide advice and guidance if we needed it. I came home with a big smilk on my face and am now telling everyone all about it whether they want to hear it or not!"

Michael Hayman reviewed: Learn to Turn in the Dartmoor National Park

"I attended a one day course on the 9th November 2018. The Mill was easy to find and the workshop is light and airy with modern dust extraction equipment. I was very fortunate to be the only pupil and I received one to one tuition of a very high order. I am delighted with the bowl that I (and in no small measure Chris produced in a few hours). The tuition has given me the confidence to proceed further and it seems a most satisfying experience even if it does not turn into a hobby. Chris was a good humoured but firm taskmaster and I found it easy to establish a rapport with him. I cannot recommend the course highly enough."

Christina Widdowson reviewed: Sterling Silver Stacker Rings x 3

"I had a lovely day with Jane and Lea (and Poppy), learning different techniques to make my silver stacking rings. I was a little bit nervous using some of the equipment but Jane soon made me feel at ease and I enjoyed having a go at everything. Lea was able to re set some stones from rings that had been passed down to me into one of my new rings. I now have a wonderful keepsake that I can wear everyday. I will definitely be returning to make another piece soon."

Steward & Mclean responded:

"Thank you Christina, We enjoyed having you here. Great to see that you will be returning at some point."

Adrian Rees reviewed: Axe making course

"Had such a great time throughout the day, which went by so fast. Andy and Dave clearly love what they do and get their enthusiasm across really well, so that even mechanically declined idiots like me can take something home which gives a sense of true satisfaction at having made something functional as well as looking “very axe-y” :-) Great fun getting hot, sweaty and the full on sooty face. Have a go, you’ll love it!"
