Learn to throw a pot on the potter’s wheel. Suitable for complete beginners as well as the more experienced.
We start the lesson with a quick demonstration, then it’s straight down to business, getting mucky and making a pot including:
Preparing the clay
Throwing down and centering the clay
Learning how to shape and build your pot
Wiring your pots off the wheel
Getting very messy!
Aprons and towels are provided, however please wear suitable clothes and shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty.
At the end of the experience you get to choose your 3 best pots for Jacky to bisque fire, glaze with her custom glazes and re-fire in the gas kiln, ready for collection after approximately 3 - 6 weeks. If you are unable to collect the pots can be posted to you for the cost of p&p.
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 4 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.

Such a brilliant course, would highly recommend! Can’t wait to collect the 3 pots we made! Thank You!
The pottery course was just wonderful. I thought that the 10-1 timing would be too short and I’d never achieve anything but I was encouraged and shown so well that I made a good few pots that Jacky will glaze and I can pick up in a few weeks.
I’d recommend the pottery course for anyone. Jacky is an excellent teacher and we all had a good laugh.
Thé 3 of us on the morning course were so pleased with our creations we have all signed up to a longer course already !
We had a wonderful few hours. Jacky was great, she helped us all the way. It was a positive experience, good fun and relaxing. It was great learning the different techniques and getting used to the feel of the clay. We were so pleased that we actually did make some dishes, and we didn't have many disasters with our heavy hands. Can't wait to learn more and we will certainly book in for more sessions. Great experience.

I can't praise this course highly enough, it was fabulous. Jackie was amazing and very patient. I had never tried pottery before but with her expertise and patience I was soon making beautiful pots, she taught us how to prep the clay, centre the clay and continue onto making a very useful pot, in fact lots of pots.
If you want to try your hand on the wheel I highly recommend you visit Carmel pottery .
