Tree Stump planter Workshop!
Choose to spend a day at Dallacre Farm set in the beautiful Northamptonshire countryside, creating a unique Tree stump planter for your garden using a fantastic non-firing clay, Pal Tiya Premium. Customise your planter however you like, it could be a fairy house or have a Green man face, the possibilities are endless!
We will provide you with plastic plant pots for the planter, but if you’d prefer a ceramic one then feel free to bring your own. We recommend 5/6” pot diameter.
Weta workshop uses this product extensively to create large sculptures for private commissions and more.
Ideal class for complete beginners, or more experienced sculptors that want to learn the techniques of this exciting new material.
Learn how to sculpt the core in tin foil and other materials before applying the product. As our clay doesn't shrink during the curing process, there is scope to use it over items such as glass jars etc that just isn't possible with normal clay.
Come to a day workshop to learn the techniques and explore the possibilities with this exciting new product, which is in the USA, Australia, New Zealand and now here!
The product is simple and fun to use and you can take your piece home that same day! It will last outdoors in all weather as it has passed freeze/thaw testing and is incredibly strong! Because the clay needs a few days to harden, we will not be painting during the class. But you’re welcome to book in for another day and paint them with our help, or you can paint them at home.
Class includes tutoring and all materials required. BYO Lunch (microwave available). Tea, Coffee, Water and Juice available!
The beauty of Pal Tiya Premium is that what you make on the day can be taken home that same day as no kilns are necessary.
''Fabulous day at The Shire Workshops last Saturday making the 'everlasting pumpkins'. Thank you to Bob and Joe for making it such a memorable day and the endless cups of tea and chocolate biscuits! I can highly recommend a workshop with these talented tutors, you will not be disappointed.''

”Everything about this workshop was fantastic. The venue is perfect, the studio well set up and the tutors know their stuff, nothing was too much trouble, no question went unanswered. Very talented and multi-skilled artisans that are happy and able to share their knowledge.”

Really had a great day with Bob and Joe and the course ran at a nice pace. The craft techniques were simple and it was easy for a novice like me to follow. I ended up with a design like the example on display. I recommend the course to anyone with or without any crafting skills. Great day Thanks!
Excellent Birthday present - really enjoyed my day with the guys, in a chilled out atmosphere .
Will book another course in the near future!
Thanks
Steve
An amazing workshop introducing the sculpting medium, Pal Tiya. Bob and Joe are wonderful teachers, very knowledgeable and easy-going. I highly recommend :)
We had a great day with Bob and Joe. It was great to discover a new medium to sculpt with, I'm dedinitely a pal tiya convert and have been plotting new projects to try out. Lovely workshop with lovely people playing with mud, what more does one need!
Excellent in every respect. We came away very satisfied with the items we had made.
A group of friends have just enjoyed a wonderful workshop with Joe and Bob at The Shire Workshops, learning how to use pal tiya. I had been wanting to take this course for a while now and was not disappointed. The hosts were friendly, informative and really helpful. We had great fun sculpting our plant pot creations and were thrilled with the results. I'd have no hesitation in recommending the workshop to others.
A fabulous course in all respects! Joe and Bob are knowledgeable, kind, enthusiastic and patient. They made us feel we could have a go, and achieve a quality creation to take home. They demonstrated and stepped in to help when we needed it. We felt they really cared that we were happy with our day and with our creations. Thank you chaps! We loved it (and we all love what we made. Excited to cure and finish our pieces!)
We had a brilliant day with Bob and Joe, they made us feel very welcome and made our tree planter creations so much better with all their knowledge and advice. The workshop was great to work in with a constant window of activity outside with the bird feeders. A must if you would like to have a go with Pal Tiya a clay like medium with clever hardening properties. I will be booking to have another go. Thank you
Had a great time found tuition very good and the whole day very enjoyable look forward to going the proposed Raju course in the summer.

A brilliant day. Much more rewarding than expected. Created something completely unique with attentive, friendly and expert guidance throughout the day. Thoroughly enjoyable and highly recommended. Our family group were so absorbed with our creations - we've never been that quiet for so long!
Enjoyed the whole experience from start to finish. Made very welcome, everything explained in easy stages, and it was all done in a relaxed atmosphere.Very pleased with end product, and would recommend it to anyone wanting to try something a little bit different.
Well equipped workshop and teachers both friendly and knowledgeable. Great day learning a new skill and so happy with how the finished product turned out! Would definitely recommend.
It was so good that I really want to keep it a secret and not share. Bob and Joe were excellent host's and teachers. The material is like nothing else that I have used. Everyone's tree stump turned out fab. To be recommended
A really lovely day was had by all. Joe and Bob couldn't have been more helpful and great company. Lovely people.
Both have great creative ideas and know the material you are working with so are able to guide you.
I would definitely recommend this course to all.
Thank you both very much.
I have had another lovely day with a great group of people and learning sculpting with Joe and Bob. Second time at The Shire Workshops making things for my garden. Always enjoyable working with your hands. In our modern world we need more opportunities to be creative. I think Joe and Bob are running one of the best places to enjoy artistic experiences. Thanks to CraftCourses for promoting places like this.
Excellent day, I was a complete beginner, absolutely no experience in sculpting or crafts of any description! Left with great memories and a Pal Tiya tree planter! Highly recommended.
Such a lovely day with Joe and Bob.
I had never made anything like this before but I need not have worried. The atmosphere was relaxed and the guidance was excellent! I would highly recommend The Shires Workshops!
Bob and Joe are brilliant teachers and have designed a course that teaches you how to use this great medium, and come out of it with a pretty much completed piece. I would highly recommend this course, and in fact any of their courses
