Hello, I'm sharon, an experienced ceramic sculpture & clay artist, and I regularly host fun & informal pottery sessions from my Pottery studio in the beautiful rural village of Heskin, Lancashire.
In this Potters wheel & Decoration class you will have fun experiencing throwing pots on a potters wheel, with extra time & some more clay to add surface decoration to your creations.
You start with a ball of clay and are guided through the basic steps to make a pot. Once you have done your first pot with assistance, you then get a second ball of clay and some practice time to have some fun by yourself. Help is on hand throughout the session should you rather be supported with the second throw.
You can then decorate your thrown pots, you may want to add handles to make a cup or jug, or you may wish to change & alter the shape of your pots. We have lots of cutters & stamps in the studio that can be used to make your pot personal & unique.
After the session you can take home your creations to air dry & paint with acrylics or you may have them fired, then return to glaze them 3 weeks later at a cost of £10.
All our classes are taught 1:1, unless you come as a couple or part of a larger group. We have two potters wheels in the studio. The classes run everyday except Mondays.
Children need to be aged 8 years and over so that they can reach the peddles safely & follow the instructions given to them.
The Crafty Potter studio is based within Heskin shopping Village, a unique retail and leisure destination featuring over 40 unique shops and businesses, With free parking we’re a perfect destination for you to make a great fun day out.
The class makes a fabulous gift for all occasions.
