Sculpt pieces of Michelangelo's David! On this 2-day sculpture course, you will be introduced and acquire the foundations of sculpting through developing your artistic observational skills and gaining knowledge of sculpture structure and anatomy. You will create your sculptures out of water-based clay. Using Calipers, a Grid, and your eye you will copy a plaster cast feature from Michelangelo's David sculpture. You have the choice of Eye, Ear, Nose, and mouth. The sculpture course will run over two days with an hour break each day for lunch. You have the opportunity to photograph your work at the end of the course and have a short informal critique.

What's included in the price?

All tools, cups of tea and coffee will be provided… you just need to bring an apron! - Clay: if you want to keep your sculpture you may purchase the clay you have used. Additionally, for an extra cost, I can hollow your sculpture and get it fired and shipped to you.

Lydia Smith is a contemporary sculptor living and working in London. Her studio is Based in the Ancient Vaults of the National Gallery, Trafalgar Square. Smith regularly works within the British film and TV industry. She has worked on blockbusters such as Game of Thrones, Star Wars, Doctor Strange, Gladiator 2, and many more. Smith is classically trained in figurative sculpture, Studying at the University of the Arts London and Private ateliers in Greece, Spain and France. Her work has transformed into a more abstract expression, but she adores and respects her figurative roots and enjoys teaching the techniques.
