About the Course
Tea Lights and Incense Burners are the ideal project for hand-building with Porcelain. They also can be personalised, making them perfect for gifts and wedding favours. For this workshop, you will use porcelain paper clay and the finest of porcelain clays, parian, to achieve a translucent finish. You will be shown a number of hand building and surface decoration techniques.
There will be a selection of cookie cutters to cut out shapes and even more interesting textures and tools you can press / cut into the clay to add interesting surface decorations. Feel free to bring your own cookie cutters or textures to use. These pieces can also be decorated using a variety of underglazes.
Most people will make about 4-6 ornaments. When you finish making your ornaments, they will be left to dry and then be bisque fired. They will then be given a transparent glaze and fired again.
