Make your own glass beads in soda lime glass. Suitable for absolute beginners.
In a few hours of tuition I will show you the fundamental skills of this fascinating and beautiful craft.
The session includes the use of all tools and materials.
Make your own glass beads by melting coloured rods of Venetian soda lime glass in an open flame, using a technique called 'lampworking'.
Alternating between a series of demonstrations followed by your practice and experimentation, I will show you how to form a basic bead, and then add decoration such as dots and stripes.
The beads will then be kiln annealed ( held at a particular temperature to reduce internal strain in the glass and make them very durable) and posted to you. This will also include the demonstration beads made on the day.
The classes are held in my workshop located 5 minutes walk from the train station in the heart of Sheffield's Cultural Quarter.
Aprons and protective glasses are provided. Wear old clothes you feel comfortable working in, and if you have long hair please tie it back.
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
Use of all tools and materials, including safety eyewear and aprons.
