About the Course
One day Christmas felting workshop, taught by Toni Peers and run by the Field Studies Council.
Spend a day creating presents or decorations using handcrafted feltmaking techniques. In this one-day class, Toni Peers will cover both wet and needle felting techniques that can be used to create decorations or presents. Handcrafted felt is made using pre-spun wool, the fibres are fused together to create felt either by force using a needle, or friction, heat and soap for the wet felted method, it is a wonderfully tactile craft. On this day you will learn how to needlefelt to create a robin; and other such decorations, which can stand alone or be joined together to create a Christmas wreath. If you prefer, you could spend the day making a handcrafted felted item for a loved one for Christmas – this might be a bag, phone cover, tea cosy – I will teach you how to make a hollow form using wet felting techniques so you don’t even need to sew it together.

Flatford Mill lies at the heart of the Dedham Vale, on the banks of the River Stour near the Suffolk-Essex border. The Centre buildings, particularly the Mill and Willy Lott’s House, are instantly recognisable since they feature in many paintings by John Constable. The rich mosaic of lowland landscapes, wildlife habitats and places of historic interest are all reflected in our extensive programme of courses.
The Centre is located between Colchester and Ipswich and is about 10 miles from each, approximately 2 miles from the A12.
