Maker

I have been doing ceramics since 2015 when I was taken on as an apprentice slip caster. From there I learnt all about ceramics and casting beautiful forms from moulds but what really interested me was working hands on with clay. I really enjoy the interaction with clay, sculpting it myself and moulding it with my hands into any shape I want so that pieces truly are hand built. My work is inspired by natural forms and all of the wonderful imperfections and quirks that you find every day when you look around at nature. I really wanted to bring this into my pieces, showing that no two things can ever really be the same. I hand make each piece so that every single one has its own unique personality. Before I worked in ceramics, I was an artist. I think that my work translates well across both areas because just as I drew shapes and patterns in pen and pencil, I can now also do this onto clay, physically building up all the layers of texture and form.
