Ceramic Garden Seed Head Ornaments - Emma Godden Ceramics
This workshop is suitable for all abilities. In the morning we will sculpt with clay to make seed heads or flowers, I will demonstrate the techniques used to make a poppy seed head and will guide you to make other designs. I will have examples for inspiration or you can come with your own ideas. After a break for lunch we will paint on the bronze and green glaze (this is called raw glazing). I will provide tea, coffee and cake! Please bring a packed lunch. Also bring an apron and wear old clothes and closed toed shoes. You may also find it helpful to trim your fingernails, in particular thumb nails as they can get in the way while shaping the clay. If you have any seed heads or flowers that you would like to bring along for inspiration please do! Please understand that I am very generous with sharing my years of knowledge and techniques I have developed. If you intend to make seed heads or flowers using the techniques I have shown you, please be considerate and do not sell your work due to copyright. You may use these techniques for making other items in your own style to sell. It's all about finding your own creative voice! Thank you. I am a qualified teacher and have been teaching pottery since 2016.
What's included in the price?
The cost of the workshop includes all materials and the firing of three seed heads and the steel rods to go with them. If you find that you make more than three seed heads, then it’s a small cost of £5 per additional piece for the firing and extra metal rod. Once your work has been fired I will let you know that they are ready for collection (around three weeks), or we can arrange for them to be posted to you at an extra cost of around £6.
