About the Course

This popular course is aimed at absolute beginners and is a fantastic way to get you started on the way to sewing heaven!

On this course, you will learn the basic functions of your sewing machine, or if you don't yet have one then borrow one of ours (just let us know if you require one). This course will help build your confidence and skills and you will enjoy the step by step approach and having practiced some sewing stitches you will be able to practice your new found skills making a variety of items week by week.

Our beginners' sewing class is kept small (maximum of 5 ) so you get lots of attention whilst getting to know your sewing machine.

You will learn how to; thread your machine, fill the bobbin, change the pressure on your machine, change a needle, we also cover tension, reverse and zig-zag stitch, how to stitch perfect seam allowance to sewing perfect straight lines and tips on turning lovely neat corners. This is a rolling programme.

Some fabrics and threads for this class are provided. We also include refreshments every week!

If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above or telephone us. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.

What's included in the price?

Required Materials:

Your sewing machine (We can provide machines for your use, please advise prior to the lesson if required). The manual and any accessories for your machine.

Once you have completed the beginners' course you can then move up to our fortnightly intermediate drop in on Sunday mornings 10-11.30am and you are most welcome to stay for free sewing until 2.30pm to work on your own projects!
