This is a 2.5 hour weekly 'sew whatever you want' general sewing and clothes making classes with Sew In Brighton sewing school. Central Hove classroom on Church Road close to Hove Station, many bus routes and plenty of parking (paid) Monday Evenings: 6:30pm-9:00pm Tuesday Mornings: 10am-12:30pm Tuesday Afternoons (fortnightly) 1pm-3:30pm Wednesday Mornings: 10am-12:30pm Thursday Evenings: 7pm-9:30pm Plus two weekend classes per month Block book to save money, then choose your own dates, not necessarily consecutive. Get expert support on your choice of sewing project; cover the content of most other courses; maximum 5 students per class. In these classes you can, for example: - Make your own clothing from bought patterns or clothes you own. Including learning to fit and adjust pattern to your individual body shape. Wear a vest, an appropriate bra for style and leggings (not too tight). Bring pattern uncut. Wash/iron fabric before class (buy 10% extra fabric to allow for shrinkage on first wash) (2+ classes depending on whether you just want help with pattern or sewing it up too) - Make soft furnishings and any other sewing projects (1+ classes) - Alter, customise and mend your clothes ( 1+ classes) - Replicate a simple garment (email us a picture in advance ) without taking the original apart. We'll show you how to make a pattern to re-create the original many times over! (1+ classes depending on complexity of garment eg vest top =1 class. Dress = 3 classes)

What's included in the price?

Almost daily machine-sewing and clothes making classes (choose which dates to attend from our all year round weekly schedule). Suitable for absolute beginners to machine sewing (or any kind of sewing!) improvers and experienced level stitchers We provide or bring if you have them: sewing machines, scissors, pins, chalk and tape measures. Students also have access to our overlockers. Pattern paper, some fabrics, pins, rulers and magnetic pin cushions are available to buy in class. We have fabric, zips etc available to buy for beginner projects such as bags, cushions, purses Complementary tea, herb tea, coffee and cordial available If you are making clothes bring your pattern, fabric and notions (zips, buttons etc). We have a project ideas page with a list of what to bring for making each item, or email us to ask advice Fabric prep - buy 10% more than pattern states, wash your fabric first and iron it on the wrong side. Hand wash cord, thicker cottons or denim and dry naturally as fabric can crease permanently. Can try very gentle-spin machine wash with tennis balls to reduce creasing!
