Description

Would you like a relaxing and stress-free weekend? Would you like to improve your quilting skills? Enjoy a whole weekend of sewing near Salisbury with expert tuition. A great way to build on your quilting skills in a relaxed and friendly setting. Come and learn this heritage craft and meet like-minded people. Quilting is a traditional craft which still has a place in our homes today. During the weekend you will learn a variety of quilting techniques which will be combined to create a lap quilt to take home. This course is suitable for beginner and novice quilters. You will need to bring your own sewing machine. We will be rotary cutting fabrics, trying different piecing techniques, adding pieced borders, layering and machine quilting. Downton is an attractive village located close the New Forest with B&B and a choice of pubs nearby. Jacqueline is an experienced quilter with enthusiasm, skill, and a flair for teaching others this versatile craft. Quilting is fun and sociable and a great way to de-stress! On receipt of your booking you will receive an equipment list.

The price includes a full weekend of teaching from 10am-4.30pm Saturday & Sunday, plus all refreshments and homemade lunches Clear handouts are provided You will need to bring your own sewing machine (please see more detail in the section above).

"Absolutely brilliant. Only 7 people, so a nice small group. The tutor was excellent, especially bearing in mind 5 of us were definitely novices! I did not feel pressured for time, nor lack of attention. The lunch was just about right - not too much so that we wanted to sleep in the afternoon, even if we had wanted to. Would recommend this one to anyone thinking of trying quilting. I have already told a few of my friends, and plan to attend more courses as and when I can."

"I attended a weekend beginner's course recently and had such an enjoyable time. Jacqueline is an excellent teacher. Her demos were clear and easy to follow and well timed. She created a relaxed and supportive atmosphere and the group of people attending were lovely. I had a lot of fun over the weekend. The food Jacqueline provided was delicious (her meringues are to die for and her brownies were chocolatey slices of heaven). Whilst having a great time chatting and laughing as we sewed, I learnt a lot about quilting and picked up some great hints and tips. I'm looking forward to booking another session with Jacqueline."

"The two day quilting weekend was a perfect introduction for absolute beginners to the craft of machine quilt making. The five beginners and the two novice quilters formed a friendly and encouraging group whilst Jacqueline taught at a pace that was appropriate for everyone. Jacqueline is an excellent teacher giving helpful tips for us to use for future projects. My quilt needs finishing at home, and I have been taught the skills to confidently complete my work in my own time. Jacqueline provided refreshments and delicious lunches on both days and is a warm and welcoming teacher. I wholeheartedly recommend this weekend course as the perfect way to acquire a new skill. I will certainly be keen to return in the future to learn more techniques."

"As a hand sewer I felt some trepidation about going on a 2-day quilting course which was based around the sewing machine. However, I need not have worried. Jacqueline was a marvellous teacher who gave everyone, no matter their skill level, all the time they needed. The quilt I produced wasn't perfect but for my first proper attempt with a sewing machine I was very pleased with the result. I have learnt so much. The home made lunches and cakes were a joy and the venue a good space to work in. I'll be saving up for next time."

However, Jacqueline was an excellent tutor and I learnt so much over the weekend and came away with a beautiful quilt. Jacqueline was so helpful, and demonstrated each step, which we could then carry out ourselves. The venue was ideal, in a lovely location and we were provided with a lovely home-cooked lunch each day, plus plenty of cake! I would thoroughly recommend Jacqueline’s quilting course and am looking to book on to another in the near future."
