Course Start DatesMonday 1st June 2020
About the Course
In this workshop we will be starting right from the beginning, learning a basic wet felt technique to make small pieces of felt which will first be dyed, then cut and sewn to make a pair of indoor slippers. You will have time to decorate your slippers with applique and learn how to needle felt.
This is a wonderful opportunity to learn this age old technique, whilst staying on site in B&B and our unique self catering Glamping in a beautiful tranquil location in the heart of the glorious Welsh countryside. We will be using eco-friendly and contemporary materials which are intrinsically linked to the local area and also support our small businesses. The Welsh wool fleece comes from a picturesque nearby farm, which is cruelty free and 100% certified organic.
To dye the felt when it is made, you will be exploring the wonders of colours hidden in plants and foods.
Weather permitting we will explore the surrounding land foraging for wild roots and plants that we can use also use in the dye baths. There will be lots of time for discussion and sharing ideas. A combination of kitchen craft and safe chemistry will release a range of delicate coloured dyes which are non-toxic and safe to use.
