6 week Pottery course in Brighton - Monday Lunchtimes - Starts November 3rd
Description
We run regular courses on Monday lunchtimes (12 - 2.15pm) in our loft studio in central Brighton. The classes are small, with no more than seven people, and lots of one-to-one tuition (and tea!). On-street parking is free. The course costs £250 for 6 sessions lasting 2hrs 15min each. This price includes all clay (we use high-quality stoneware clay), and a range of glazes, underglazes and slips. Firing is charged at £1 per 100g of fired, finished work. Course dates: 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th November, 1st, 8th December & 15th December (optional throwing session). (The pieces you make will be ready in time for Christmas). The date listed on the Craft Courses calendar is the date of the first session, and the classes then run on the dates listed above. We are also running a taster session on October 11th if you would like to try before you commit. Just send me a message with the 'message the tutor' button. If you are a beginner, the course will take you through projects which will introduce you to the fundamental principles of hand-building. You can explore pinch pots, coiling techniques, and the use of soft and hard slabs. If you have some pottery experience already, then you can bring ideas for projects you would like to make, and we will support you to make them come to life! We have a Next Steps System (please get in touch via the 'message the tutor' button to enquire), where you can see the sorts of pieces you can expect to make whatever level you're at. We have a huge range of glazes, and you can experiment with these and other decoration techniques on the course too. MAKE UP CLASSES: You can re-book one make-up session per term if you miss a class for any reason. These will be available during the times of another class (Tuesday & Wednesday evenings & Saturday mornings), or on the 30th November at a designated catch-up class. THROWING ON THE WHEEL: We know that many people want to give throwing on the wheel a try, so you can choose to book an optional extra throwing session on the 7th week of the course, for an extra £40. Any other questions, please send me a message.

Hot Fox Pottery is run by Alice and Tom Fox from our home studio in Brighton. We are small and friendly, with a warm and homely studio in our converted loft space. Our size means we'll know your name, and we'll really care about your pots! (And you might meet our sweet cats Alan & Dodo too!) A relaxed, comfortable atmosphere and our extensive knowledge of pottery is what sets us apart. No strip lights, no cold, impersonal industrial units - you're just in our house, being taught by the people who run the business. (Plus there is the added bonus of free parking!) In our cosy studio, you can take some time away from screens and outside pressures to focus on something mindful, fulfilling and creative. We know you'll leave feeling relaxed and happy. All our classes are run in small groups, so our students get lots of individual attention, whether you’re a beginner or a more experienced potter. We really care about sharing our knowledge and helping you to develop your skills to make ceramic pieces that you’re proud of.
